Shopping on a Saturday

What was I thinking?  I hate shopping at the best of times but shopping in Walmart on Saturday.  Ugh!!  It was busy with lots of crying kids.  My husband got crankier with every purchase.  I had three app rebates to coordinate, prices to compare, and coupons to organize.  I saved $3.75 in coupons and $10.80 in rebates for my apps and .55 cents in another app.

Then we moved on to Farm and Fleet.  Ken got new shoes because they were on sale.  He went in by himself while I talked to Vicki on the phone and took pictures of receipts.  Our last stop was the new Firehouse Subs.  Ken went in by himself and got our lunch.  It was quite good.

Next I have to organize our route for the pop up libraries and getting the books organized.  We are going to try to hit as many as possible today put one or two books in each one we stop at.

Then I’m coming home and crashing.  I’ve had enough of people, shopping, and noise.  I want the peace and quiet of my house.  Hopefully I will have the energy to work on hand towels.  I’m going to try to finish them this weekend but I’ll have to see how my energy level is tonight and tomorrow.

I’m trimming all the editing and publishing off my list for tomorrow because I need some down time with my feet up.  If my legs feel okay, I may have time to work on the computer but more likely, I’ll just work on crocheting.

Car Repair

Unexpected car repairs suck.  Yesterday Ken got in my car and it wouldn’t start.  Now I didn’t start it on Friday but my spoiled van sits in a garage so I didn’t think the cold was the factor.  You never know though so he put the heater in the garage and put the charger on it.

Later it popped off.  He said he thought it was the starter.  I called around to find out the cost of a starter.  Farm N Fleet comes through as the least expensive (again). Still it was going to be a $300 – 400 expense.  Not what I needed to hear.

He turned the van off and tried it several times throughout the day.  It seemed to be working.  We, of course, are not that lucky.  He went to start it this morning and no joy.  It wouldn’t start.  We were looking at battery replacement, starter, or who knows what.

Of course no one can get it done until Monday so I’m trying to think of ways I can get to work and still get my car fixed.  I’m just trying to come up with contingency plans.

We took it to Farm N Fleet and they just called.  Battery.  Thank the car gods.  Battery replacement is $100 not $300 or $400.  The annoying van will get a new battery and hopefully I won’t have anymore problems with it.  Hopefully….
