Author Bio

Agnes Varona Oquendo, RN, Author is a native New Yorker who has worked many years as a nurse in a clinical setting and then as an educator. She describes her most vital life role as mother and now grandmother, most notably known to her family as MiMi. As a longtime strong advocate for women, health and education, it inevitably drew her attention to becoming an avid long distance runner and athlete, loving and learning a humbleness for the sport. But after a cancer diagnosis and hurdling over life’s challenges, she rekindled her lost love for writing, leading her to a new life role as an Indie Author. Her first published book, “Running Against Cancer,” became available through Amazon in 2018. In 2019 she has published; “My Shorts,” and “Dark Whispers of a Serial Killer.” She is presently working on her fourth and fifth book while enjoying every moment with her family.

Tell us about yourself

I am a recently retired RN who has worked in various areas of a hospital setting for over 4 decades. My life hats over the years include mother, grandmother, runner/marathoner, cancer survivor/warrior, educational speaker, educator, and now author.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Books have always been an important part of my life since I was a little girl. I have dreamt of writing because of my love of books. After my struggle with cancer, I wanted to write and share my struggle with others in an attempt to help others with the same or similar struggle to find hope and empowerment with keeping ourselves educated and informed, hence my first self-published book, “Running Against Cancer.”

What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?

I enjoy reading several genres that hold my interest. I tend to read biographies, crime, suspense/thrillers but I am open to anything. I have published 3 books so far; “Running Against Cancer,”-my own biography, “My Shorts,” a novel extending over several generations of a family that immigrated to the US and their family drama, and recently, “Dark Whispers of a Serial Killer,” which delves into the mind of a serial killer and the minds of his victims, their families, also a novel.

Is your book for adults, young adults or children?

My books at present for adults, although Running Against Cancer can be read by young adults. I am presently working on a children’s book and another adult novel.

What is your current release or project?

My current release is, “Dark Whispers of a Serial Killer.”

Tell us about your key characters?

Key characters; Detective Sarah Wilson- lead detective, the serial killer and his victims.

What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?

Dark Whispers is a psychological thriller with a twist.

Share an excerpt

I think the prologue gives an indication of the killers childhood, an excerpt taken from My Shorts. It is in an essence related in only that sense to my second book. After writing My Shorts, I found a way to keep the story going but it is not necessary to read them in order. It just gives a background to the killer.

Do you have a favorite scene?

I actually love the entire story.

What advice would you give a beginner?

My advice to someone writing their first book is just write. I personally cannot write with a written plan. I just write and let it flow but that is what works for me. It may not work for everyone. I think that I have learned something new as I go along with the help of FB author groups and of course an editor. I did not have anyone edit my first book and I can look back and wish that I had another set of eyes read over it for me. I also think an eye catching cover is important, it’s a preview of what is inside. I learn something new every single day, in every aspect of my life.

It’s 3am…While most minds are in a blissful state of slumber, mine is wide awake conjuring and pondering endless thoughts. Eyes are fixated on the dark popcorn ceiling above and ears are soaking in blue tunes as my autopilot mind becomes overwhelmed with the past, future and every cherry topped dream in between.
These thoughts range from warm and fuzzy to dark and slightly crippling. Sometimes I wish that my mind had an off switch so that I could power down at night. No such luck. So, wakie wakie! Grab yourself a coffee and a snack because it’s 3am and I have so many thoughts to share with you.
As someone with anxiety, writing is my way of speaking. When my verbal skills fail, my pen excels. I have always had something to say to the world and to the humans residing in it, I just could never get my mind and mouth to be on the same level. So, I picked up a pen and haven’t looked back. I have a message for you. A message for my family, my friends and to all the beating hearts. Dear You is a letter personally written, from me to you.

The General’s Little Angel

The General’s Little Angel
by Breanna Hayse
Genre: Biography / Memoir
What does age-play really look like and can an independent and intelligent woman really find healing as a submissive in a BDSM relationship?
I was privileged to travel and explore many parts of the world. I admit that I was somewhat of a brat, and also out of control. My general took it upon himself to be a Daddy to me and my first Dominant as well. He made me face my fears, try exotic foreign foods, and even challenged me to go outside my comfort zone and learn to play–while he played along with me. Despite the trouble I got into (and there was plenty) and the consequences that came of it, I never felt abandoned, unloved or afraid.
This is about my first Dom and my introduction into the age-play dynamic. Many things happened after being taken under my general’s protective (and incredibly patient) wing. He gave me a sense of significance and worth through love, firm guidance and boundaries. He made me laugh, helped me to cry, and showed me the power and healing contained within the age-play lifestyle. He made it safe for my inner child to express herself and taught me that it was good to enjoy life.
But no one really knows what happens behind closed doors or the things that happen to shatter your dreams and violate your joy. This was one of the most difficult books that I have written. It not only brought up many memories, both good and bad, but it also forced me to reveal parts of my past that some might find disturbing. Because of those issues, I felt this story would be a valuable asset to the Breaking Chains© series.
I pray that all of you are blessed with at least one person who has positively impacted your life and that you grab every opportunity and positively touch others. Always remember–your words and actions have the power to either heal or kill. Which direction do you choose?

BDSM/AP lifestyler Breanna Hayse strives to give her readers truth and reality of the BDSM/Age-Play/Total Power and Erotic Exchange lifestyle.
Who am I?
I’m a native Californian gone ‘wild’, and had the opportunity to travel the globe and discover the world through the eyes of both a Marine Intelligence specialist and a BDSM lifestyler. I left the service to go into hospice nursing and grief counseling, eventually working as a marriage and family therapist for those involved in alternative lifestyle development. This experience has allowed me to gain unique inspiration for my books and offer realistic plots and relatable characters.
In 2004, my husband, John, and I joined forces to work with both submissives and dominants- teaching, training, listening and loving. Our goal was to take the mystery and fear out of the lifestyle and mentor people in safe, consensual and healthy relationships.
My first book, The Game Plan, was published in 2012 and opened the door to the now-booming world of Age-Play literature. Since that time, I’ve devoted my ‘spare’ time to writing, researching, community involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.
I was formally ‘dungeon trained’ as a Domme before discovering my submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled primarily from either personal experience or observation, including spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of fantasy and fiction. I also discuss the questions and psychology of the lifestyle in a manner that is fun and informative, and based on ‘the real deal.’
I live with my husband, musician, and fellow-author, John Hayse, and two border collies in southern California. We practice a 24/7 D&S relationship with speckles of AP (and many trips to Build-A-Bear), and happily spend every moment together that we can. My hobbies include my puppies, hiding my vanilla salt-water taffy where John can’t find it, exotic art, collecting inspirational trinkets, and developing my own paddle line. You can also see me as a featured author/instructor in professional conference settings and as a Sexpert for kinkyliterature.com.
