W900

W900
by Tom McNulty
Genre: Literary Fiction
Hovis Monk had been deceived. Perhaps he always had been. His comfortable life in the Snowdonian bubble, provided by The Blue Yonder Mining Company, was ending.
As his world implodes Hovis spins into a realm of inner and outer realities, chance occurrences, memories, music, luck and laughter.
This story describes the reunion of Hovis with his old Paisley Underground band, a little known group called The Festers, and his struggles with a very special Flame Red Time Trialing Onesey…..
I began writing these existential stories because they needed air and because I was sick to death of people being lauded for writing trivial rubbish. It’s easy to write nice, acceptable TV bookclub bodice rippers, a lot harder to tell the truth.
My stories scrape the scrotum of life’s existence and laugh at despair. There is no room in my books for any Goo Goo Muck, just straight up Rock n Roll.
So read at your peril…

Gavin Goode

Gavin Goode
by David B. Seaburn
Genre: Literary Fiction
I don’t know how, and I don’t know why, but I think I died today.”
So begins the complex and mysterious journey of Gavin Goode and his family. What happened to Gavin and why? What secrets will emerge along the way? Frankie, his wife and a dress store owner, feels guilty, but why? His son, Ryan, who owns an ice cream parlor, and daughter-in-law, Jenna, who is a bank manager, are expecting their first baby. How will this trauma affect them? And what of Rosemary, Frankie’s best friend? Or Ben Hillman and eleven year old, Christopher? How are they implicated in the events that unfold around Gavin’s misfortune?
This is a story of despair and hope, dreams and reality, uncertainty and faith, humor, secrecy, forgiveness and beginnings. As in his previous novels, David B. Seaburn demonstrates his in-depth understanding of the human experience and his storytelling mastery.
In 2010 I retired after having been the director of a public school based free family counseling center.
Prior to that I was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center for almost twenty years. During my tenure there I taught in a Family Medicine Residency Program, practiced Medical Family Therapy and was the Director of a Family Therapy Training Program.
In addition to this I am a retired Presbyterian minister, having graduated from seminary (Boston University) in 1975. I served a church full-time from 1975-1981 before entering the mental health field permanently. I am married; we have two adult daughters and two wonderful granddaughters.
My educational background includes two master’s degrees and a PhD. Most of my career was as an assistant professor of psychiatry and family medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. There I wrote two professional books and over 65 papers and book chapters.
In addition to long fiction, I write personal essays, many of which have been published in the Psychotherapy Networker magazine.
I also write a blog, “Going Out Not Knowing,” for Psychology Today magazine (http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/going-out-not-knowing).

Caroline Leavitt

Caroline Leavitt and I met through social media. She has additional writing experience as a screenwriter

About Bio

Caroline Leavitt is the New York Times Bestselling author of Pictures of You, Is This Tomorrow, Cruel Beautiful World and 10 other novels, many of which have been on the Best Books of the Year lists. A writing teacher online at both Stanford and UCLA Writing Program Extension, she also works with private clients. Caroline reviews books for The Boston Globe, the San Francisco Chronicle and People Magazine. Her work has appeared in Real Simple, New York Magazine, Salon, The Manifest-Station, and more. A New York Foundation of the Arts Fellow, she is also a Goldenberg Fiction prize winner and a finalist in the Sundance Screenwriters’ lab.

Tell us about yourself

I am a two times New York Times Bestselling author and I write fiction. I believe in karma so I have made it my goal to help other writers when I can. I also am a screenwriter (I have a screenwriting partner, the excellent novelist Gina Sorell, who wrote Mothers and Other Strangers, and we have a film agent shopping our pilot right now.) I’m addicted to books, and I am also a bonafide movieholic, and can sit through four movies in one day. Happily, too.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

When I was a lonely little asthmatic girl who couldn’t go out to play. I stayed in the library and read and read, and then began to write. Nothing was more fun or more soothing to me! I knew early on that I was going to be a writer, and my sister and I even wrote “novels” together—long stories with chapters that we created and illustrated.

What genres do you like to read?  Are these the same genres you write in?

I love literary fiction, and yep, that is what I write in. But I also love psychological sci-fi, too!

Is your book for adults, young adults or children?

Adults.

What is your current release or project?
I have a novel called With or Without You that will be published by Algonquin Books in spring 2020. It’s about a fading rocker, his nurse wife who wants to settle down, and what happens when she has a drastic personality change that dramatically impacts her life, his life, and the life of the young doctor treating her.

Tell us about the key characters

Lucy is a young free spirit in the late 1960s who falls for her high school teacher. Her older, more stable sister, Charlotte is the one who feels she must find her baby sister and rescue her.

What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?

Cruel Beautiful World is set at the time when the peace and love of the late 60s morphed into the dangers of the early 70s. It tells the story of a young high school girl who runs away with her teacher to a supposed back-to-the-land paradise, only to find it a nightmare.

Do you have a favorite scene?

Oh, that is like asking me if I have a favorite child! (I do, actually—my one and only child!)

What advice would you give a beginner?

Never ever give up. No matter what anyone says.  No does not mean no for everyone—it just means no for that one particular person.

Legend of Song de Light

Legend of Song de Light
by Kaitlynzq
Genre: Literary Fiction, Romance
The stories within Legend of Song de Light
connect, unfold, interweave many character’s stories
needs, feelings, desires, dreams
their threads as two crescent moons
connected under the firelights
that layer the chords, and form the lyrics
all of you entered my world as dawn’s awakening sky of soft palette
my garnet heart melted in iridescence to bloom in sun’s rays
glow in night’s depth as the stars echo the rhythm of my heart
my insides sigh and expand in delight
harmonious blend as our lives
circle the melody
Information for the audio play :
The audio play is adapted from Legend of Song de Light audio book by
Kaitlynzq, and layered into pdf files as a heart’s song.
And, written in how her imagination envisions an audio play
The characters are heard
Their interior hearts speak
The volumes of their depth
In the airwaves that float around you
While in attendance in a public venue
The actors are unseen but heard
Their lyrical voices like a heart’s song
And available as a downloadable pdf file.

My fictional stories are written from the inside view
of a character’s interior heart-that
beautiful, vulnerable, intimate space
feelings, desires, needs, dreams
a blend of
delicate feather ripples of heart waves
needs, feelings, dreams, desires
quiet, gentle heart strings
tender, continuous
soft, vulnerable air mist
circles, weaves to caress
a sonic sea of heart’s breath
Woven into audio books that are recorded in my voice with a medley of music as a heart’s wave into downloadable mp3 files; audio plays adapted from the audio books, and layered into pdf files like a heart’s song; audio poems that are multiple poems designed to connect to form a story as a heart’s breath;
and audio sets that are sets of these interconnected stories with elements from each story that interweave
in one another as heart’s wave, heart’s song, heart’s breath.
