Amelia Oliver

Amelia and I met through a mutual friend – thank you Jules Hunter! I’ve enjoyed my conversations with her and learning about her writing. I have one of her books on my kindle and it is pushing aside others because I must read it. FYI – Amelia writes adults only stuff and her excerpts are YUMMY but not for youngsters… send the kids to bed . This interview is sexy, sassy, and delicious! Adults only!

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Amelia Oliver, a British author from a small town on the coast. I’m a mummy, wifey, disabled and a mental health advocate.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

I always wanted to write, but never dared. I suffer from severe anxiety and exposing myself through publishing a story used to be extremely scary. It still is, only now I have some amazing supporters who never let me doubt myself.

What genres do you like to read?  Are these the same genres you write in?

I love to read PNR, reverse harems and sci-fi. But I’ll read almost anything I can get my mitts on.

Is your book for adults, young adults or children?

Adults. Definitely adults.

What is your current release or project?

I have two! Book 2 in the Everly Davis Chronicles Four Ever, and Blaze. Both very different stories.

Tell us about the key characters

In Four Ever, the main character is a young woman from Manchester. Her mum died, and left her a house in the seaside town of Scarborough. When she got there she met Leyland, the Cupid. Karl, the Earth Elemental. And Garrot, the telektentic.

In Blaze Kayla just turned 20, the world has been destroyed by war, zombies known as “Panda” roam the lands. She meets Connor, who can read minds. Charlie, who is a healer. Crowely is is half “Brute”

Blaze – When I open my eyes again all I see are dead bodies, they just haven’t hit the ground yet. Holding my katana with both hands I swipe left and right, heads drop to the floor and roll. Blood, guts and pieces of flesh fly through the air as the four of us decimate the crowd around Chris. A particularly fresh Panda lunges at me, his teeth filled with blood and bits of skin. He snaps at my face as I take one hand off my blade to push his chest, making him fall back into the bodies behind him.

I swing my weapon in an arc, taking down several other Panda on the way I remove his head from his body. Something hard hits my ribs, turning I come face to face with a Panda who is clearly several months old. The skin on his face is peeling away, leaning forward to bite me his foul breath fans my face. I force myself to not puke as I reach out to move him back when something hits me from behind sending me falling forward. I land on top of the gross Panda my hand crunching through his ribs as we land, and my fist hitting the ground beneath him. Stabbing my blade beside his hip I pull my hand back and thrust it into his face, palm out, it plows through his skull and into his brain, ending his life.

Someone shouts my name, but I cannot see through the cluster closing in on me. Grabbing my weapon I yank it out of the earth and stand. Connor, Crowley and Charlie have disappeared into the masses. That’s fine, I got this. With a battle cry, I spin on the spot. My sword held in both hands as I slice limbs from bodies, cut open throats and remove jaws from faces. A masculine voice rings out again just as my legs are taken from under me, and a heavy weight lands on my back taking the breath from my lungs. “Fuck!” My blade drops to the ground as my wrist hits dirt; pain shoots up my arm and I cry out. The weight shifts and the stench of death wraps around me.

Twisting my head slightly my eyes lock on with a slightly milky pair. One of Chris’s people. Hells yea. Pushing off the ground, I stand still completely surrounded by Panda. My cutlass nowhere in sight, I panic for just a second. Ending my little freak out, the odd Panda thrusts it’s hand towards me, a small blade rests there. Hands grab my shoulders as I snatch up the blade and turn jamming it into the skull of a bad Panda. Fuck sake, we are so going to have to come up with new names for normal Panda and Chris’ people. This is just getting confusing.

Punching faces with one hand and stabbing with the other I rack up quite the body count, Panda Beta?, PB for short?, I make headway into the troop of old Panda, OP for short?. The grey of the container comes into view as more bodies litter the floor. Careful not to trip I start to use their fallen bodies to climb further into the dwindling posse. Not moving towards the structure, but deeper into the Panda. Determined to clear the area I continue to use blade and hand to crush, punch, rip and tear through bodies. I lose myself in the heat of the battle, I love this.

        “Kayla? What the fuck!”

Crowley’s voice can hardly be heard over the sounds of crunching bone, the shiver inducing sound of my blade sinking into soft gooey flesh and my own grunts of exertion. So many carcasses are around me now that I have to climb over the top of a pile so that more can reach me and meet their final deaths. I see a flash of the black t-shirt Connor is wearing, then a glimpse of the one Charlie is wearing as another Panda swings its arm out hitting me in the face. Grunting I shake it off until something hard hits the back of my head making me bite my lip. Wiping the back of my hand across my mouth it comes away wet. I don’t need to look to know its blood, I can taste it. The world spins for the millionth time in a few short days. I feel myself falling.

Chapter Twenty-One

Shaking my head clear I push my hands against the Panda in front of me to stop myself from falling. Turning around I come face to face with a massive Panda. Its milky eyes bore into mine as it reaches out wrapping both hands around my throat, squeezing. Struggling to get air past the digits around my neck I slam my fists into the creases of his arms, but he doesn’t break his vice like grip. Shit.

Memories assault me, laying helpless under a pile of rubble in a dark room. My blood cooling against the dirty wooden floor beneath me. Wishing with every ounce of my soul that I wasn’t a broken bitch, that I could just allow myself to love. And be loved. My mother’s face looking concerned as I refused to get to know any of the boys who visited Kaleidoscope farm. Hands grab my body in all directions and teeth sink into my flesh as four distinct male voices scream my name.

Four Ever

“Oh!” She moans out, and rocks her hips making Le slip in and out of her. The view I see is erotic as fuck. I take myself in my hand as Karl sits beside me. At some point he’d got naked and now has his own cock in his hand, pumping up and down with his both his hands wrapped around it. Karl and I have never touched each other during sex with other women, but I spit into the palm of my hand and rub it over his bell end. His light grey eyes flick to Everly`s, then to mine.

“Yes! So fucking sexy, oh I’m close!” Ever watches us with open interest.

“Karl do the same to Garrot, lick your palm and rub the end of his cock for me.” His eyes flick to mine again, then he licks his hand and slowly, he rubs it over the tip of me.

“You dirty bitch Ever. You like watching us pleasure each other, don’t you?” I ask.

“Yes, more!” She mewls back. Oh fuck me, the dirty little bitch. I wrap a hand around Karl’s cock, and bend to lick the bead of precum there. Then, with his saltiness still on my tongue, I take Ever’s mouth with a punishing kiss.

My tongue massaging hers as she moans into my mouth. I slap two fingers to her clit, taking care to not hit Le too, she shatters, throwing her head back onto Leylands chest. My hand strokes my cock until I cum all over her pussy and Leylands cock as he pistons in and out. Painting them both white.

“Oh fuck!” He shouts out and cums deep inside our girl.

“Cum Karl.” Ever says between panting breaths. Oh fuck me, she’s dominating him. Her words draw a long moan from his mouth and he explodes all over the floor, long jets spurting out of him, moaning to the ceiling. All eyes are on Ever as we ride waves of pleasure. We all sit there in the bathroom, panting and sated. It’s only nine a.m and already I’m dreading the day, but what a way to start it.

Leyland

Garrot leans forward towards us, and cums all over my cock, the hot slick liquid sliding down my balls, mixing with Everly`s juices and I explode inside her.

“Oh fuck.” My eyes roll back into my head and I moan out my pleasure. After we all just sit there, catching our breaths.

“I love you all so much,” she says on a sob. The three of us immediately sober and we each wrap our arms around her.

 “It’s going to be okay.”

“Babe, we are here with you.”

“My love, we love you too.”

Damn. We are all scared, none of us want to lose what we’ve so recently built. We also don’t want the planet to be destroyed, it’s a heavy load to bear, but I have faith the four of us can defeat Poseidon and his army of Elite. Together we can do anything.

I look down at my watch absently, it’s nine AM, Will and his men will be here any second. Time to get ourselves cleaned up and dressed, ready for training to begin.

“Will and his clan will be here soon. We need to get dressed,” I reluctantly say to everyone. Everly opens her eyes and wipes them. I give her a reassuring smile as she turns to look at me. “I’ll do brekky,” Karl replies. “I’ll run the vac around downstairs too, I may have got dirt on the hallway carpet. Sorry.” His eyes are downcast as Ever looks to him.

“It’s your house too, not just mine. It’s our home. The four of us.” To drive her point home, she stands and crouches down in front Karl, cum dripping on the floor. “If you’ve got mud on the carpet, you better go clean it up,” she says quietly into his ear. His dick gets hard again and he bites his bottom lip.

“Yes Miss.” Looking into her eyes he puts his lips to hers softly, then stands to get dressed. Huh, interesting. I never knew Karl liked to be dominated. I’ve never seen him like that before, Ever was so sexy bossing him around, my own dick twitches again.

“Best get dressed before we spend all day in this room.” I say on a laugh.

Do you have a favorite scene?

Ooh yes. In both. In Four Ever it’s when Everly tells Leyland…. But I can’t tell you that. But I cried writing it.

And in Blaze it’s when Charlie asks Kayla .. I cannot tell you that either. But I cried like a baby, as did my Alphas!

Oh – you are a tease!!!  What advice would you give a beginner?

Accept help. You won’t think other authors are willing to help, but they are. Some… well there aren’t many who aren’t really really nice. Oh and get a PA. They are invaluable. Do it early on. Make sure they read what you write first, build a friendship with them. The relationship you build with your PA is paramount. Also don’t reveal your cover right away, tease readers with it. Reveal a little at a time, make a game of it. Engage with readers, they love it. Social media is scary, very scary. But it’s a must! Ask questions, talk about yourself and encourage them to talk about themselves. I wish you the best of luck!

Ken Stark

Ken Stark and I bumped into each other on social media. He writes in horror which is way outside my purview.

Author Bio

Ken Stark doesn’t only write horror, but he mostly does. Why? Because when it comes to shining a light on the best and worst of mankind’s nature, nothing works better than a dark backdrop. If it happens to give a few people nightmares along the way, he’ll just take that as a bonus.

Ken lives in Vancouver, Canada, and when he isn’t writing, he can most often be found reading, painting, or dreaming of a beach house in Hawaii.

Tell us about yourself.

Thank you, Eileen. My name is Ken Stark, and I am a horror and dark fiction writer from Vancouver, Canada. I started making up stories as soon as I could hold a pen, so I’ve been at this for a long time. I mostly started stories I would never finish, but I finally wrote a complete novel in my teens and sent it around to the top New York publishers, assuming they would all line up to throw bundles of cash my way. Sadly I was wrong, and the rejection letters hit me hard. I still wrote after that, but it was always just for me. Flash forward a few decades, and I was ready to try again. This time, my manuscript was picked up by the first publisher I contacted, and I haven’t looked back since.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Honestly, right from the beginning. Some of my earliest memories are of me sitting on my bed, scribbling in a notebook. Like I said, those stories rarely got finished, and none of them were any good, but the desire to create alternate realities was always there.

What genres do you like to read?  Are these the same genres you write in?

I read anything and everything. All that matters to me is the story. Even if I didn’t like a lot of different genres, I think it’s important for writers to explore outside their insular little worlds. There are a lot of writers out there doing a lot of amazing things, and you never know where you’ll find inspiration.

Is your book for adults, young adults or children?

My books are a little too graphic for young children, but I make no distinction between YA readers and adult readers. A few years doesn’t suddenly make a person wiser or more sophisticated. Young people know what they like, so if they’re okay with a little swearing and a few nightmares, then so am I. Arcadia Falls is the only novel I ever wrote with a younger reader in mind, so I kept the language clean, but that was the only concession I made. And really, that was for the younger readers’ parents more than the younger readers.

What is your current release or project?

My latest release is Stage 3: Bravo, the third book in my post-apocalyptic Stage 3 series.

Tell us about the key characters

Hank Mason was always a loner, so he was fully prepared to take on the apocalypse single-handedly until a young girl reminded him of what it meant to be human.

Mackenzie Cullen was only ten years old when the world turned upside down, but she adapted quickly. Smart, brave and fiercely loyal, she sees the world as it is, not as it used to be.

Sarah Cullen is technically Mackenzie’s aunt, but she raised the girl from infancy. Never one to back down from a fight or be the damsel in distress, she is Mason’s equal in every way. As a nurse, she dedicated her life to helping others, but she’ll stop at nothing to keep her little girl safe.

What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?

Hank Mason thought he had nothing left lose.

But then came Mackenzie. And then came Sarah. And then came the others.

Though these seven souls had somehow survived the first days of the epidemic, every minute in this new world comes at a price.

Thrown into a relentless battle against a population turned feral on one side and desperate men willing to do anything to stay alive on the other, the only question remaining was how much they were willing to pay to survive.

Now, those precious few are in a desperate race to save one more lost soul, and time is running out. The clock started ticking the moment they pulled into that forgotten little corner of a world gone mad, and every second brings them closer to death.

They’ll have to find a way out, or die trying.

Share an excerpt

No one dared utter so much as a whisper, but Mason had no need of words to know what they were all thinking. It was suicide. Sheer, unthinking suicide. They would all be dead as soon as they opened that door. Even if they somehow managed to pile through without the slightest breath of sound, they were dead as soon as their feet hit the pavement. If they somehow survived long enough to sneak a few steps into the swarm, they would be dead before they’d crossed a dozen feet. If by some miracle they weren’t torn to ribbons by then, they would never be so lucky as to make it all the way to the other loading bay nearly a hundred feet away. And even if they somehow accomplished that impossibility, they would then have to quickly and silently break through a door that was a carbon copy of this one. Metal, with a little square of reinforced glass.

It was ridiculous to even consider. Impossible, by anyone’s measure. Mason would be throwing his life away on a ridiculous venture destined to fail before it had even begun. And with it, he’d be throwing away everyone else’s life, too.

He checked his watch. It was 5:15. By 5:17, it would all be over. 5:17. Everyone he knew in the world would be dead by 5:17. He tried to come up with the day’s date as if knowing exactly when all of his friends were to die might give him some peace, but as much as he tried to calculate backwards, he simply couldn’t. Was it still July? Were they into August yet? What day of the week was it? Friday? Monday?

It was a wasted effort. In this new world, days and dates had no meaning. All they had was now. Still, one vestige of the old ways pervaded Mason’s thought.

     God, I hope it’s not Monday…..I’d hate to die on a Monday…...

Addison fell back to let Sarah squeeze in beside Mason and have a look for herself. She said nothing, but her tightening grip on Mason’s arm spoke volumes. Then Becks poked her head between the two, and she did speak, but in a hush low enough to have been a mere whisper on the breeze.

“You can’t,” she pleaded with both of them, “There has to be another way.”

“There isn’t,” Sarah hushed back, and with one last gentle squeeze of Mason’s arm, her fingers trailed down to his hand, their fingertips kissed, and she stepped away to leave him and Becks alone for the last moments they were likely to have.

And yet, Mason didn’t say a word to Becks. In his mind, he didn’t have to. Whatever he’d needed to say had been said, and for perhaps the first time in his life, he was at peace with himself. He reached out and found Becks’ hand waiting for his, but it didn’t linger there. That last connection made and his heart at ease, Mason released her hand and gave the signal. Then he slowly and gently slid back the deadbolt.

Do you have a favorite scene?

There’s a scene on the rooftop that I absolutely love. No spoilers, but one member of the group is preparing to make the ultimate sacrifice, and it shows not only the sheer horror of this new world, but how far they’ve all come. It was a very emotional scene to write, and I think it came out beautifully.

What advice would you give a beginner?

I always give new writers the same advice. Just write. It doesn’t matter what, it doesn’t matter how long it takes, and it doesn’t matter if it’s any good at all. The only way to get better at anything is by doing it over and over and over again, so if you want to be a writer, write! Trust me when I say that the words you write today will always be your worst. Every sentence you write from that moment on will only make you better, so forget about trying to create a masterpiece and just write!

Thanks for letting me stop by, Eileen. This was fun!

I’m so glad you did! I enjoyed reading your tidbits and learning more about your writing style!
