Why was life so difficult, at times?

Zoe never imagined she would find herself having to choose between two men—or should she say, angels. As exciting as that sounds, the need to make a decision is tearing her apart. Does she choose the irresistible one who ignites her body with his passionate kisses, or the wild, untamed one who presents all sorts of possibilities?

Orion found his fated mate the second he saw Zoe in the reflecting pool. He knows that she wants him—but Orion isn’t the only one that she wants. His nemesis, Mercury, is Zoe’s co-guardian and he, too, is vying for her attention.

Mercury is a rebel—wild and untamed. As co-guardian to Zoe, he feels the need to protect the sexy human female he has been assigned to. The trouble is Mercury wants more, but he isn’t the only one.

Zoe wants both men, but not all angels will share. Torn between two angels, she must choose only one. Who will, eventually, capture her heart—and will the other one accept her decision as final?

She rolled her face into her pillow and screamed. Mmm… sex with both beings, at the same time. Oh, God! Something between her legs thrummed with pleasure at the naughty, forbidden thought.

She grabbed onto the pillow, chastising herself under her breath. “Oh, God, Zoe! Stop thinking such horrible thoughts.” However, were they truly despicable? Since angels were all about love, would they care if they shared a human? Orion was decided on the subject. He did not want to share. However, he did indicate there were angels who wouldn’t mind a bit of… Hmm… Like Mercury.
She shook her head and murmured, to herself. “You know you couldn’t even entertain the idea.” Though she said this, images of two large beings hovering over her, kissing her, and stroking their hands across her nude body intruded. One lowered his head and whispered naughty delights in her ear she never thought possible… until Orion. The heat rising in her cheeks a clear indication of her embarrassment, she couldn’t imagine more than one magnificent being in front of her, wanting her. What would she do if she had several?

Pass out from excitement overload.

Seriously. Two gorgeously naked angelic beings waiting to explore her sexually? If only she’d allow it. However, she would never hurt Orion, at least not intentionally.

She pictured Orion’s short brown hair, his blue eyes as calming and enticing as the ocean, and his grey wings behind a suit of Trojan-inspired armor. At times, she’d study his profile when he was engaged in last-minute strategy, preparing for the next mission. His rich, red, eight-inch plume stretching out from his helmet, adorning his high forehead and his strong jaw fascinated her, to the point he’d catch her staring because she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

While Zoe loved the idea of being naughty and exploring new territory, she couldn’t bring herself to think of another man in bed with her, even if Orion joined. Somehow, Orion became… precious to her… She valued, honored, and loved him. Oh. The last few words hit her like a brick. She loved him? Love? Really? She searched her heart for the truth, saying the sentence aloud several times and waiting to see how the idea settled within her. The word slipped from her mouth recently. She itched to retract it.

“I love Orion.”

Was it true?

“I love Orion.” It seemed comfortable, true, and like a jigsaw puzzle piece searching for its mate, it fit. Orion and Zoe looked out for each other, and they were friends. No. Best friends. She divulged to him things she never told anyone else, and he never rejected her. It was easy talking to him. He supported, advised, and protected her. They enjoyed each other’s company. Zoe was safe with Orion and blissfully happy within his arms. Kissing him was like a dream, an absolute thrill. Something others would never experience but she wanted everyone to.

She suddenly felt as if she was sitting on the blow-stack of a steamboat. Images of his broad chest naked beamed a wave of unexplainable hot flashes through her. She was nowhere near menopause. Wow. Who seated this amazing, gorgeous bundle of temptation next to her? Suddenly, the lunch cruise became a hell of a lot more entertaining.

There he was, staring at her with those beautiful grey-colored eyes and that slightly upturned mouth that bore a hint of mischief. With a man like him, she imagined there would be a lot of long, hot and sweaty nights. Her throat suddenly went raw, and she coughed, continuing with a strange raspy sound to her throat clearing. Tom urged her to take a drink while Mr. Adonis’s smile widened in a look of amusement. She grabbed the glass in front of her and chugged several swigs while Tom engaged Aeron in conversation. She dropped the glass onto the table and belched. Oh, shit! Did she just do that? Tom and Aeron laughed, bemused by her plight. Freaking hell. She willed a hole to open below her chair and swallow her, but nothing happened. Her eyes darted back and forth toward the restroom door, contemplating whether she should escape that way.

“Nice to meet you too.” Aeron’s deep and grumbly—but sexy as hell—chuckle soothed her like ocean waves crashing onto a scorched beach.

Well, the belch was pretty funny, now that she thought about it.

“At least I got the embarrassing part out of the way, or I hope I did.” Laughter picked up again, but this time Kim joined in.
“I’m sorry, what was your name again?” Kim figured she’d better learn his name rather than pretend throughout lunch that she knew it.

“It’s Aeron.” There it was again, his gorgeous smile. Perfect white teeth displayed in impeccable, kissable lips. Freaking crap, Kim, reign yourself in.

She pictured him in a suit and then pictured him without one, uttered a loud snort, and started coughing again.
“Are you okay?” Tom said. “Kim? Take a drink. Here.” Tom handed her his glass.

Kim sensed all eyes on her as she gasped for air. How the hell was this happening? Oh, sweet Lord please let me compose myself before they start doing the Heimlich on me or something. She took the glass and sipped it this time, willing the darn tickle in the back of her throat to subside. She set the glass down and wiped her mouth with her hand. What came over her? It happened because she took one look at Aeron—no scratch that. She thought of him nude, that’s what did it. She licked her lips at the thought of him naked, again, and found his eyes following her tongue…

Or was that her imagination?

“You okay now?” Tom asked.

“Yeah, I hope so.” She shook her head. “I’m sorry. Something must be affecting me. Maybe it’s my allergies.”

Intent on understanding why Apollo didn’t come for her, she reacted before she heard him. “Are you going to answer me?”

He didn’t. How could he abandon her in this way, too? She stormed off, rounding a corner of the building until she realized she was still at work. With a heavy sigh, she turned on her heel, took a few steps and ran into a brick wall. Actually, it was Apollo’s solid, sexy, bronzed…oh my… Wait. Where did her concentration go? What was she saying before? She hit the firm surface beneath his neck and bounced off it. Holy cow. Angry as she was, she still wanted to kiss him everywhere, if he allowed it. She’d follow up her kisses with long, slow licks of her tongue, for good measure. Mmm…

She forced herself to re-focus her thoughts, recall why she was out here in the first place, and then glared at him.
“Get out of my way. Please.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“But that’s what you are.” His frown accompanied a look of distress as if she had physically attacked him with her words.

She placed both hands on her hips and moved closer to him. Mistake. His musky scent wafted, sensuously, through her nostrils. Her eyelashes fluttered. She purred with delight as overwhelming sensations rippled through her like a runaway train, carelessly, in peril of running off the tracks. Lord, could he stop being sexy for just one minute! For a mere sixty seconds so she could get her point across, to him? She doubted it. Her angel didn’t realize how attractive he was and the effect he was having on her.

His eyebrows scrunched together. He opened his sensual mouth. His voice deepened with a marked tone of concern. “Are you okay?”

She drew in a deep breath of air, attempting to return to her senses. Then, she jutted her chin out, in a show of defiance she wasn’t quite into. Nonetheless, she was still upset with him for not saving her from the brutality of Carl.

“Yes, I am. I have something to say to you. I can do without you, Apollo.”

One eyebrow crooked up. The corners of his mouth widened into an amused grin. “Really?”

“Yes, I can. What have you done for me anyway besides watch my every move like a protective, hovering busy body.” Images of her recent car accident flashed across her brain. “Okay, I take that back, you did help me with the accident.”

“So… You are saying you can do without me.” He murmured while stroking two fingers across his chin.

She nodded, once. “Yes.”

“You don’t need me then?” He pointed to his marvelous, wondrous, impeccable chest …stop it Lauren, stop it.

She hesitated in her response. She wanted him but did she need him? “No.”

“You sure? Because if you say you don’t need me, I won’t come to your aide anymore.”

“I have another guardian. That’s what you said.”

Apollo smiled.

Centurion thinks he has it all- until the one subject plaguing him and affecting his colleagues, in strange, undesirable ways, stands in front of him.

As second-in-command of the prestigious volunteer band of angels called The Guardian League, co-guardian to a talented charge in New Orleans, Louisiana, and hosting a wealth of swooning ladies available at his every whim, nothing in his life was missing.

Yet one day, at an art exhibition, he encounters April—a woman as strong and hot as the human beverage that tickles his fancy. A beautiful, lush female that stokes the fire deep within him he never knew existed and makes him question his self-imposed rules regarding human-angel relationships. He doesn’t know what to do. Yet, he knows he can’t lose her.

Overwhelmed by his sudden introduction, April never thought she would find a buff, strong angel standing in front of her, much less, asking her for a date. Yet, Centurion goes by his own set of rules, and he doesn’t want permanency. He wants April—on his own terms and at his beck and call. April can’t agree.

Still, there is something about Centurion that draws her to the cocky, devilishly handsome but mostly incorrigible male and it’s not just his good looks, his killer kisses, or his suave finesse. There is something more.

Will she stick around to find out what it is? Will they form a compromise and allow love to bind them together? Or will Centurion’s carefree lifestyle wedge them apart—forever?

“Did you need me?”

April kept her head down.

“April! Did you call me away from a mission without a purpose?” Centurion’s body temperature smoldered, warming to a rising inferno. His shoulders tightened, his jaw tensed and he gritted his teeth. He left his men for her.

April looked up. “I’m sorry, Centurion, I panicked.”

“You panicked? I was on a mission! I left my men to come to your aide. I thought you were in trouble. I can’t believe you called me for no good reason!” he bellowed.

April grabbed him as he turned away. “Please, don’t be mad at me. I’m sorry. Please, lover.” April lifted up on her tiptoes to kiss him but being too short she missed his lips and kissed him on the chin, instead. He grabbed her around the waist, pulled her up, and kissed her.

“Centurion, I love your lips.” Her neck softened, and her head fell back. He followed her down, traced the rim of her mouth with his tongue, and plunged in.

She murmured in between gasps for air. He placed her feet on the ground and took a step back.

“You tempt me.” He wiped one arm across his mouth.

April leaned her back against the wall. She lifted an arm overhead, stretched her upper body, tilted her head to one side, and curled her index finger in front of him in a “come hither” gesture.

Centurion did. He planted his hands on the wall next to her. His voice deepened into a rough, husky tone.

“You’re drunk, but you still entice me.”

He ran several fingers down the underside of her arm and across her chest. She drew in a sharp intake of breath. “You draw me in like fire needs air to survive.” He caressed the side of her waist. “My beautiful flame.” He palmed one breast, rubbing his thumb across the center. She moaned and whispered his name. He cupped the back of her head and leaned in for a kiss. His tongue slipped through her supple barrier.

“I want you, April, but not like this. I want you coherent.” He pulled back.

“No!” She grabbed his arm. “It’s okay.”

“You sure?” He searched her eyes for resistance, but she nodded.

“I want you too.”

“Here?” He looked left, right, and back at her.

“You’re an angel. Don’t you have powers?”

His grin widened with the increase of salacious thoughts vying for attention. He didn’t have to look into a mirror to find desire spreading through his eyes, like lava over land, he knew it was there. He felt it in his bones, running through his muscles, fueling his blood. He had wanted her since the day he met her. Despite her inebriated state, she said “yes.” He asked her one more time what she wanted, citing her rights under the laws of free will and his own concerns of her regret.

She grabbed onto the mesh of his armor and pulled him toward her. “Take me, Centurion.”

He wanted her. He needed her. These words were foreign to Tatiana, plus they didn’t make sense when coming straight out of the mouth of an angel. She could understand the want maybe, but what did Jasper need her for?

He was an angel for goodness’ sake! He didn’t need anything. But he said it was her. Hmmm.

At times, their conversation ended up in the bedroom, on top or under the covers in several compromising positions that always ended in one or both shouting in pleasure. She loved these times and she craved more of them. She was insatiable when it came to Jasper and what he offered. She wanted it all and now!

However, she didn’t want to string him along. That’s what she tried not to do but couldn’t help thinking she was doing exactly that. She kept asking herself what she needed in order to make a decision. Safety. She’d been burned too many times in the past by men leaving her and Jasper ended up being one of the shameful statistics. But he couldn’t provide her with reassurance and, as a result, she couldn’t give him an answer. They were at a stalemate, it seemed; no one was the winner, and both ended up the losers. She wanted love, she wanted commitment, but she wanted stability too.

It was time to tell him the only decision she could come up with, the one that would be the best for both of them.
She turned toward Jasper on the couch and reached for his hands. “I’ve made up my mind.”

“You have?”

She nodded.

“My sweet angel.”

Jasper smiled.

“I love you so much.”

“I love you too.” Jasper mouthed.

“I don’t want my decision to impact you being around and I don’t want to lose you as my Guardian Angel either.”

His face fell. “What are you saying?”

She drew in a deep breath. “We have a strong bond, you and I, I think, but…” Tatiana grimaced, and tears started to flow down her cheeks.

“Why are you crying? What’s going on?”

She gathered inner strength she didn’t know she had, to continue and choked out, “We’re not meant to be together.” Her hands fell to her thighs. She hunched forward and cried aloud. Jasper placed a hand on her shoulder, and she flung it off her and shook her head.

“Why are you doing this?” He shifted further toward her.

“You’re not mine. You belong to the world. Your work with the Guardian League and they—”

“Would not suffer because of us,” Jasper interrupted her. “What else are you trying to tell me? What other excuses have you come up with?” Jasper rose from the couch.

She looked up at him. “I’m not trying to hurt you.”

“Then why are you?” He splayed his hands out to his sides, palms up.

Tears streamed from her eyes and splashed onto her shirt.

“You are my mate!” Jasper bellowed. “Do you understand what that is for an angel? No, I think not.” Jasper stared at her. “I can’t do without you.”
