by Donald Firesmith
Genre: YA/MG Urban Fantasy
Matt’s life changes forever when a family of druids moves into the dilapidated Victorian mansion next door. The story of an unlikely friendship, the clash of two completely different cultures, secret magic, and a search for the lost Hawthorne treasure.
Fifteen-year-old Matt Mitchell was having the worst summer imaginable. Matt’s misery started when a drunk driver killed his mother. Then his father moved him and his twin sister to the small town of Hawthorne in rural Indiana, as far as his grieving father could take from the ocean that Matt’s mother had loved. At the new high school, three bullies are determined to make Matt miserable. And to top it off, Matt learns that the recluse who lives in the ‘haunted house” next door is none other than Old Lady Hawthorne, the town’s infamous witch and murderer. Matt’s terrible summer is turning into an awful autumn when something quite unexpected happens. Old Lady Hawthorne’s niece and her three children arrive, and Matt meets Gerallt.

A geek by day, Donald Firesmith works as a system and software engineer helping the US Government acquire large, complex software-intensive systems. In this guise, he has authored seven technical books, written numerous software- and system-related articles and papers, and spoken at more conferences than he can possibly remember. He’s also proud to have been named a Distinguished Engineer by the Association of Computing Machinery, although his pride is tempered somewhat by his fear that the term “distinguished” makes him sound like a graybeard academic rather than an active engineer whose beard is still slightly more red than gray.
By night and on weekends, his alter ego writes modern paranormal fantasy, apocalyptic science fiction, action and adventure novels and relaxes by handcrafting magic wands from various magical woods and mystical gemstones. His first foray into fiction is the book Magical Wands: A Cornucopia of Wand Lore written under the pen name Wolfrick Ignatius Feuerschmied. He lives in Crafton, Pennsylvania with his wife Becky, and his son Dane, and varying numbers of dogs, cats, and birds.

Run for Your Life
Race With Danger
Run for Your Life Trilogy Book 1
by Pamela Beason
Genre: YA Suspense, Action, Adventure
Champion runner Tanzania Grey, 17, has to win the Verde Island Endurance
Race’s million-dollar prize to save the life of her friend Bailey.
The treacherous five-day race traverses a remote volcanic island
that’s home to beasts that slither, fly, swim, and slink through the
jungle. But the wildlife turns out to be the least of Tana’s problems
when she draws the name of Sebastian Callendro as her partner.
Sebastian’s personal life has put him in the national spotlight, and
his nosy followers are the kind Tana can’t afford. Her name isn’t
really Tanzania, and everything else in her biography is invented,
too. She’s been running for three years─from the men who murdered
her parents. If her cover is blown, she could be next.
**Only .99 cents!!**
Race to Truth
Run For Your Life Trilogy Book 2
Champion endurance racer Tanzania Grey, now 18, is haunted by disturbing email
messages from the mysterious P.A. Patterson, who seems to suspect
her real identity as Amelia Robinson. Four years earlier, she
was the only one to escape when the Robinson family was
professionally “eradicated” in Bellingham, Washington.
When Tana receives an invitation to compete in an extreme version of the Ski to Sea
relay in her home town, she decides to use the race as a cover
to gather information about who killed her mother and
father, and what became of her then-nine-year-old brother.
Tana soon discovers clues that hint of something terribly wrong in the company her
mother helped to create, Quarrel Tayson Laboratories. Worse, her
sleuthing attracts the attention of a very frightening man in
Bellingham, who knew both her parents. It now seems more a matter of
“when” than “if” she will be the next to be killed. Can she
turn the tables and reveal who was behind the death of her
parents before she becomes their next victim?
Race For Justice
Run For Your Life Trilogy Book 3
When champion runner Tanzania “Tana” Grey receives a mysterious
invitation to the Extreme Africa Endurance Challenge, she fears it
might be a trap. The multi-day race is in Zimbabwe, the
violence-prone homeland of her brilliant biochemist mother, who was
murdered along with Tana’s father. The killers, never apprehended,
seem to suspect that Tanzania Grey is actually Amelia Robinson, the
girl who escaped their deadly grasp. But when Tana sees a Mom
Lookalike in the promotional video for the race, she can’t say no.
She doesn’t know whether to be alarmed or delighted when her former
race partner Bash Callendro, the “love child” of the U.S.
President, arranges to run with her. Tana’s determined to find any
remaining family in Africa, and expose the secrets that led to her
parents’ deaths. As the clues pile up, Tana realizes that her quest
for the truth could destroy not only her and Bash, but will also
endanger the lives of everyone she cares about back home.

The Resistance Series
Counteract
Resistance Series Book 1
by Tracy Lawson
Genre: YA Dystopian Adventure
Who do you trust when your world unravels
and everything you believed is a lie?
For the past fifteen years, The Office of Civilian Safety and Defense has
guarded the public against the rampant threat of terrorism. Teenagers
Tommy and Careen have never known life without Civilian Restrictions.
For them, there’s no social media. No one is allowed to gather in
public places or attend concerts or sporting events. Only a small,
select group of adults have driving privileges, but it’s a small
price to pay for safety.
Now a new, more deadly, terrorist threat looms: airborne chemical weapons
that can be activated without warning. The OCSD is ready with an
antidote to counteract the effects of the toxins. Three drops a day
is all it takes. It’s a small price to pay for health.
The day the disaster sirens signal the dreaded attack, Tommy shares his
last dose with Careen, even though doing so might hasten his death.
It’s a small price to pay for a friend.Follow Tommy and Careen as
they uncover a web of lies and deceit reaching to the highest levels
of the United States government and join an underground resistance
group that’s determined to expose the truth.
“Counteract is a novel for our times, but with a decidedly different plot twist.
Most dystopian thrillers focus on the devastating consequences of the
unleashed virus or poison on society, community, and the individual.
They become character studies of the protagonists and antagonists.
“Tracy Lawson’s novel asks an even more disturbing question–what if the
real culprit was someone or something we trusted? I thought The
Hunger Games might be the Millennial generation’s version of George
Orwell’s 1984. Now, I think Counteract and the Resistance Series are
more primed to take that spot.”–SR Staley, author of St. Nic,
Inc., and the Tortuga Bay series.

Resist
Resistance Series Book 2
“I loved the first book in this series so much that I jumped right into
the second one to continue the adventure. The Resistance Series is
another great YA dystopian adventure that combines elements of
thriller, romance, dystopian, and much more to create a well-rounded
story that is sure to appeal to many readers – it definitely has my
attention.”–TFL Reader, top 500 Amazon Reviewer
Knowledge comes with a price.
Tommy and Careen no longer believe the Office of Civilian Safety and
Defense’s miracle antidote can protect them from a terrorist’s
chemical weapons. After accidentally discovering the antidote’s real
purpose, they’ve join the fight to undermine the OCSD’s bid for total
control of the population.
Being part of the Resistance brings with it a whole new set of challenges.
Not everyone working for change proves trustworthy, and plans to
spark a revolution go awry with consequences far beyond anything they
bargained for.
Tommy and Careen’s differing viewpoints threaten to drive a wedge between
them, and their budding relationship is tested as their destinies
move toward an inevitable confrontation with the forces that
terrorize the nation.
Where does love fit in when you’re trying to start a revolution?
“Dystopian YA literature needs more writers like Tracy Lawson! Lawson’s lean
writing style and idea-driven dialogue reminded me of the novels of
Ayn Rand, particularly Anthem, but Resist is much faster paced and
holds your attention from the beginning.
“Resist picks up right where the first book, Counteract, leaves off, and
readers are thrown immediately into the action. I also loved the way
Lawson doesn’t give her characters the easy way out–they are forced
to make decisions and suffer the consequences. These are real people
that anchor the story, even if the setting is not.” –SR Staley,
author of St. Nic, Inc. and the Tortuga Bay series

Ignite
Resistance Series Book 3
The Greatest Risk Is To Take No Risk At All.
Nationwide food shortages have sparked civil unrest, and the Office of Civilian
Safety and Defense’s hold on the people is slipping. The
Resistance’s efforts to hasten the OCSD’s demise have resulted in
disaster, with Tommy Bailey and Careen Catecher taking the blame for
the ill-fated mission in OP-439.
Both teens struggle to survive the circumstances that force them into the
national spotlight—and this time, they’re on opposite sides. On
the run and exiled from the Resistance members in BG-098, Tommy makes
his way to a Resistance safe house in the capital.
The OCSD is preparing to monitor all under-eighteens with the Cerberean
Link, a device that protects them against hunger and sickness and can
even locate them if they’re lost. Tommy’s now living in close
quarters with Atari, an operative who has been assigned to sabotage
the Link. But does Atari plan to use it for his own purposes?
Through it all, Tommy refuses to believe Careen’s loyalties have shifted
away from the Resistance, and he’s willing to assume any risk to
reconnect with her. Will they be able to trust each other when it
matters most?

Revolt
Resistance Series Book 4
The Explosive Conclusion to the Award-Winning Resistance Series
To Deny Freedom is to Deny the Human Spirit.
Fugitive Resistance fighter Tommy Bailey has come out of hiding to help rescue
Careen Catecher from the clutches of the Office of Civilian Safety
and Defense, where she’s been held and interrogated for information
about the rebel group. The OCSD is poised to launch the Cerberean
Link, a security device that will put all minors under constant
surveillance under the guise of protecting them.
Fearful that OCSD director Madalyn Davies’s bid for control won’t stop
there, the Resistance puts its own plan in motion to sabotage the
Link and oust Madalyn from the directorship. Just when everything
seems leveraged in the Resistance’s favor, treachery, lies, and
long-held secrets threaten to derail it all.
Will even a life together on the run be impossible for Tommy and Careen?
Or will the Resistance’s efforts convince the public to put their
fears aside and demand freedom?
Spark
Careen’s Prequel to the Resistance Series
“What was our heroine Careen Catecher like BEFORE she became a firebrand
for the Resistance? Well, she was just a normal teenage girl trying
to survive college in the totalitarian state of Tracy Lawson’s
creation.” –review by Patrick Hodges
“Careen is a believable, strong female protagonist who, having survived a
harrowing terrorist attack, is now trying to survive [college] in a
new ‘Quadrant’ where she can’t seem to fit in.” –review by Candace Williams
A strong heroine is made, not born.
Though Careen Catecher survived a terrorist attack when she was nine, her
childhood ended on that awful day. Now, nine years later, she’s
ready for her life to truly begin.
A full scholarship to a prestigious university far from her beleaguered
home quadrant seems like a dream come true, but when she arrives on
campus, she’s perceived as a charity case, despite grades and test
scores that prove she’s the academic equal of the best students there.
Careen knows she’s tough enough to survive just about anything, but
fitting in with her acquisitive peers—at least on the surface—is
necessary if she’s going to leave the past behind and claim the
stable future she craves.
But her past won’t stay buried. She’s only been at school for a few
weeks when a cryptic message from an unlikely friend raises questions
that may put her in danger all over again.
Check out this novella-length prequel to the award-winning Resistance
Series, “a promising new YA series about a totalitarian America.”

Tracy Lawson knew she wanted to be a writer from the time she could read.
In the first grade, she authored sixty-seven contact-paper bound
books through her school’s Young Authors program. Though that pace

While working toward her Bachelor’s degree in Communication at Ohio
University, she studied creative writing with the late Daniel Keyes,
author of Flowers for Algernon. After short stints as a media buyer
and an investigative analyst, she settled into a 20-year career in
the performing arts, teaching tap dancing in Columbus, Ohio, and
choreographing musicals. Though her creative energies were focused on
dance, she never lost her desire to write, and has a non-fiction book

they overcome their differences? Will Trent and Kiara give in to
their connection? Find out who prevails in this epic battle.
SCARRED – Book 1
A sassy witch, a vampire sworn to protect her, and a vampire that’s falling for her…? All bets are off.
Kiara was born with power. At eighteen, her powers are peaked, and she’s
destined to destroy the demon threatening her home town. But even
with her power and the help of Kaleib, a vampire who’s like an
older brother to her, they’re not strong enough to stand against the
evil. Enter Trent, a vampire with a secret past, and the tables turn,
giving them a fighting chance.
Kiara shouldn’t feel anything toward Trent, especially since Kaleib hates
him, but a strong attraction builds between them during their
mission. Trent has successfully avoided caring about anyone for over
one hundred years, and he plans to keep it that way. When Kiara asks
for help, he can’t seem to deny her. Never would he imagine that
he’d run into Kaleib, someone from his past–a vampire who knows
his secret. Trent convinces himself he’s aiding Kiara for his own
selfish amusement, but the little witch seems immune to his charms
and she’s chipping away at his walls. To his dismay, he finds himself
beginning to care for Kiara.

things play out for Kiara and Trent? Will this demon let them live to

thirst hovers over everything they do. The hostility between Trent
and Kaleib still brews just below the surface. Will Kiara hold it
together or will she lose control? Will her new thirst be too much?

feels something for him. Their budding trust is tested. Despite
everything, he tries to be there for her. By her bedside when she
wakes, helping her figure out how to tell her godparents what she is
now, even staying in her house when she can’t sleep.
When Kiara’s dreams are plagued with visions of Sarah threatening her,
Kaleib and Trent say that it’s coincidence. Her mind dealing with the
loss. But as the visions come while she’s awake, it looks less like
coincidence and more like something sinister.
Is it her anger over Sarah’s untimely death or is it something more?
Something dangerous?
ANGEL – Book 3
The epic conclusion of Amanda Leigh’s Upper YA Paranormal Romance trilogy.
With a battle close at hand, Kiara must face the darkness inside her.
The only way for Kiara to save her loved ones from a sinister demon is to
turn herself over. But doing so would ensure the destruction of not
just those she loves, but the whole world. When she refuses, someone
close is taken from her in warning, sending her into hiding with
Trent and Kaleib. While a battle looms, Trent and Kaleib must put
aside their hostilities toward each other to protect Kiara. They help
her navigate the impending fight, not to mention the hunger fighting
within her.
As the final fight draws near, Kiara and Trent grow closer, the limited
space ramping up tension and making their passion hard to deny. Will
their feelings strengthen them or be their undoing?
When the time comes, will Kiara yield to the darkness within her to
destroy the monster haunting her?
Amanda Leigh has had a love of words since before she could write them
herself. Once she learned to read and write herself she just couldn’t
stop. She reads any genre as long as the book sounds interesting.
Which may explain why she can’t and never will be able to stick to
one genre in her writing. From Contemporary Romance to Women’s
Fiction to Paranormal Romance to Poetry and more to come. When she’s
not writing or reading she enjoys getting swept away in a great TV
show, going to the theater, listening to music, cooking and many
different forms of art. She has a cat she adores and also loves
Psychology, tea, coffee, chocolate and Elvis Presley. Not necessarily
in that order. Feel free to get in touch with her.

I was born in Denmark on a dark and stormy night in November 1976. I
began writing when I was a teenager. My first book was a really awful
horror novel titled Nidhug’s Slaves. It didn’t get published. Luckily.
During the next 7 years, I wrote nearly 20 novels–all of which were
rejected–while working as a school teacher. The rest of the time I
spent writing.
In 2000 I published my debut fantasy book, The Battle of Caïssa, and
that’s when things really took off. Since then I’ve published more
than thirty-five books for children and young adults in genres
ranging from fantasy to horror and science fiction.
My books have been translated into more than 15 languages and my series
about the superhero Antboy has been adapted for film, which is
available on Netflix. An animated tv series is currently in
development.
A musical of The Devil’s Apprentice opened in the fall 2018 and the
movie rights for the series have also been optioned.
I live in Copenhagen with my wife, two boys, a dog named Milo and
spiders in the basement.

AE Faulkner is a young adult dystopian author. Her debut novel, Darkness
Falls, is the first book in the Nature’s Fury series, which explores
the Earth’s response to humans poisoning her streams, abusing her
animals and destroying her beauty.
She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Millersville University
and a master’s degree in advertising, public relations &
journalism from Temple University.
Although she escaped in books as a child, college textbooks sucked the fun out
of reading. Years later, The Hunger Games trilogy became the spark
that rekindled her love of books. After devouring that series, she
quickly became captivated by dystopian novels.
After several years of reading them, she decided to take a stab at writing
one that combined her love for nature with her fear of human
destruction
