This book has been in the making for a couple years. I had a plan for these characters and they opted out. I tried writing their story my way and they blanched. So I did what they told me and wrote their story.
Ghost summoning? No biggie. Raising the dead? Bring it on. Solving my sister’s sudden disappearance? A bit more complicated…
I’m Serena LeStrange, a necromancer who prefers to hide her freakishly fabulous skills from others. Only my sister makes me feel less of a weirdo, so when she mysteriously vanishes from college, I enroll at Macabre Academy to start my own investigation.
Except this is no ordinary school for the magically inclined, it’s home to all monsters—even the most dangerous ones. And after meeting an incredibly gorgeous vampire and a sinfully hot reaper, I find myself entangled in a passionate, yet forbidden, flirtation. To complicate matters, I get stuck with a ghostly genie sidekick and suspect a sinister sorority of misdeeds.
But to solve the mystery, I’ll need all the help I can get. Someone at Macabre knows what happened to my sister, and I won’t stop until I dig up the truth.
Unfortunately, some dark secrets prefer to stay buried.

It’s him! Zane McGowan. Sitting in the front fucking row of my very important conference. My body goes rigid and my heart slams into the pit of my stomach. If I wasn’t standing in front of two hundred people right now, I would swear that this was a dream. His tall, muscular frame would be hard to miss. I stare at him completely ignoring the fact that everyone’s eyes are on me.
My God! He’s still gorgeous. Even after five years. His milky chocolate skin is as smooth and flawless as I remember. His tailored grey suit makes him look even more appealing. Big brown eyes stare back at me. But I can’t notice any shock as I gaze into them. As if he knew I’d be here. My heartbeat picks up its pace and my palms begin to sweat. I can’t believe he still makes me feel so alive.
Looking at him is like looking at everything that I’ve ever screwed up in human form. Immediately, the last eight years of my life replay in my head like flashes of light.
Regret… That’s all I feel as I stare at him. He was the love of my life. Honestly, he still is. But there can never be anything between us again. I ruined him once, I won’t do it again.
“Ms. Hunt?” The mc calls. I force my eyes to break free from him, then I look over at the mc. He glances towards the audience suggestively while gesturing for me to move closer to the podium. Hoping that I can still salvage this conference, I cleared my throat. Thank you all for coming today. I’m so grateful to be here. We are here to discuss a great environmental breakthrough. We believe that by the end of this conference, you all will have the necessary tools to help us change the environment for the better.
No matter where you live or what your financial circumstances are, you can help save this planet. YOU can be the change.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Yes, my favorite scene is the hot and spicy one
What advice would you give a beginner?
Don’t give up! Keep pushing! The reward Is greater than the fight
In a small town, in a popular bar, beautiful women disappear. This could just be a coincidence, but private investigators, Carson, Matt and Nathalie don’t believe in them. So they go undercover.
However, when one of the missing women turns up dead, the trio is disturbed to learn the woman bore a striking resemblance to Nathalie; they increase their efforts. When Nathalie disappears from the same bar, Carson and Matt will do anything to find her.

November 1984, Richard Hart lands at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport carrying
a dossier he doesn’t have security clearance to open, a map of
Moscow missing most of the street names, five ten-dollar bills
(probably dyed with invisible ink) and an American Express card.
Acting as a CIA “financial” agent, Hart must close a deal with
the KGB, rig the transaction to produce enough “black money” to
bribe KGB hard-liners to retire, and get out alive. And he only has
Colonel Putin there to help him.
PUTIN’S USEFUL IDIOT is about Richard Hart, a self-centered materialist
living in New York City married to a woman half his age, dining out
every night at fancy restaurants and spending his weekends shopping
with his wife at expensive stores like Bergdorf-Goodman, Henri
Bendel, and Gucci. Forced to take an assignment to Moscow, he winds
up in an environment where money is worthless because there is
nothing to buy, food is scarce and for the most part terrible and
even drinking water is impossible to find at times. As he adjusts to
his new environment, he comes to find that his materialistic
viewpoint is selfish, and in fact unnecessary to his happiness, and
as he finds joy in the new friends and relationships he makes, he
transforms toward the collective.
But is it all a set-up by his partner in crime V. Putin? Is he just
another Useful Idiot? As a counterpoint, while Hart is evolving in
his social views toward the collective, his Soviet counterparts
evolve toward capitalism because the free markets are coming to the
Soviet Union and everyone is going to need western currency to
survive. Inspired by true events, PUTIN’S USEFUL IDIOT is a
ride-along first person, present tense adventure jampacked with
danger, passion and humor

Eileen, thank you for having me as a guest on your wonderful
blog.
My latest novel Anthony (Risking Love Book Four) is available
for pre-order and has a publication date of April 1. I’ve included the
dedication to my mother in today’s blog to show you where some of my
inspiration comes from when I’m writing.
Dedication
My mother has many talents. I share some of them throughout my
novels. For instance, she was Ellie, Joseph’s administrative assistant in my
last book, Joseph, playing the part of a caring, motherly woman who was
more like a good friend. In Anthony, it was my mother’s delicious
Italian cooking that inspired my writing about Anthony’s amazing meals in his
successful Italian restaurant. In Joshua, I show my mother’s creativity
and personality in the many colors she uses around the family cottage. She used
to take us on walks up at our summer home, looking for driftwood that she would
turn into wonderful works of art.
When she wasn’t coaching me or my four siblings in sports,
girl scouts or boy scouts, she was reading to us, knitting us hats and scarfs,
making us gorgeous quilts, cooking delicious food, and teaching us how to swim
or waterski.
She is in
her nineties now. I know that someday I will lose Mom, the person I love most
in the world besides my husband and children. But I’ll always have these
amazing memories of her and so many more.

EXCERPT from ANTHONY
Chapter One
Tessa
After my business partner went home for the day, I called
James, our receptionist, into my office. I prayed he’d help me. “You know that
gorgeous friend of yours? The one with the blond hair and blue eyes?”
He stood in my doorway and raised a brow. “You must mean
Samuel. Why do you ask?”
I rolled the straw wrapper from lunch that was still on my
desk with my fingers. “I need a date for Violet and Joseph’s wedding this
weekend.”
“Girl, you know he’s one of my gay friends, right? I thought
that you’d been drooling over that hunk of a man, Tony.”
“Yes, and that’s why I need Samuel’s help.” God, I hoped this
scheme my friends had concocted didn’t backfire on me.
He put his fists on his hips and looked at me like I was
crazy. “Girlfriend, you’re not making any sense. I thought Tony was going to
the wedding.”
My chest tightened. “He is, but… the man moves at a snail’s
pace.” I crushed the straw paper into a ball and tossed it toward the trash.
“He’s interested in me. My friends told me that they could tell by the way he
acted and the things he said when he was around me. But he hasn’t made any
attempt to ask me out. Joseph and Violet’s wedding would have been the perfect
opportunity but he didn’t ask.” I combed my fingers through my hair.
I took a deep breath then huffed it out. “Jaq told us that he
hasn’t dated since his divorce over a year ago. That he’s been working hard to
make his restaurant successful.”
He swooshed his hand toward me. “He’s done that. So why
wouldn’t he go after you?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “Tony told Joseph that he’s taking
his time this go around, so he doesn’t make the same mistake he made with his
first marriage.”
“Are you telling me that hot man hasn’t had sex for over a
year? His balls are going to shrivel up and die. Are you sure he’s straight?”
He teased.
“I didn’t say he hadn’t had sex. I’m saying he hasn’t dated
anyone.”
He smirked. “And how does Jaq feel about you manipulating her
brother? I thought she’d put up a roadblock when she found out because of your
boy crazed days in college.”
“Good question. I didn’t get a chance to tell you what
happened at dinner last night. My friends forced me to tell her how I felt
about her brother.” The look on Jaq’s face had made me queasy. “I told her that
I was head over heels crazy about Tony and that was the reason I hadn’t been
dating.”
“Drama. You go girl. I want all the dirt.” He plopped down on
the seat in front of my desk.
I smiled. I knew how much he loved to gossip. “At first, she
accused me of secretly dating her brother and wanted to know why I would do
such a thing.”
James slapped the top of my desk. “Oh, this is getting good.
What did you say? Did you get angry?”
“I told her I would never do such a thing. Then she stuck out
her chin and demanded to know what I was going to do about it.”
He grimaced. “What do you mean?”
I laughed. “That’s what I
asked. She told me that he wasn’t a pursuer of women and never had been. He was
a driven man who put most of his energy into his dreams of having a successful
restaurant, and he was a painfully slow mover when it came to asking a woman
out. Then she asked me again, ‘What was I going to do about it?’ At that point,
my heart raced.”
Even now it raced from remembering Jaq’s words after I’d asked
her if she meant that she was okay with me dating Tony. I leaned forward and
steepled my hands.
“She told me that I was a good friend. And, sure, at the
beginning of our senior year she’d been worried about my trolling for men. At
the time, I had been dealing with my worst daddy-daughter issues.”
“Oh, please. Who hasn’t done some sleeping around in their
younger years?”
I made duck lips at him because I knew Jaq hadn’t, but I
wasn’t going to tell him that. He’d call my friend names, like prude, and most
likely right to her face, and she so wasn’t one.
I melted back on my seat. “Well, it wasn’t my finest period in
life. Then she said I was the nicest, smartest, most beautiful woman inside and
out that she’d ever known.” My eyes welled up like they had last night at dinner.
James nodded. “Damn straight, you are.”
My heart smiled. “She wants me to date her thick-headed
brother.”
“Of course she does. Your outgoing, fiery personality is what
that man needs.” So how would having Samuel as your date help you get Tony?”
I leaned forward and took hold of his hand. “You’re not going
to believe this, but, according to Jaq, we need to make him jealous enough to
get him to ask me out.”
He gave me a devious smile. “Hmm, so Samuel would be the bait
that gets Tony to wake up and get moving in on all the fineness that is you. I
think you’re all nuts, but I happen to know that Samuel is free this Saturday,
because he was going to hang with me until I had to leave for the wedding. I’ll
hook the two of you up.”
“You’re the best.”
“I hope this doesn’t backfire on you. You could lose Tony if
he doesn’t like being manipulated.”
“We’ll have to make sure he doesn’t find out. I’ve already
waited seven months for him to notice me and to make his move. We ladies all
think that’s long enough. Don’t you?”
“Yes, and that is why you should have taken all that fineness
of yours and moved on to greener pastures. Stop waiting around for this guy. No
matter how hot he is, no one’s worth waiting that long for.”
“I would normally agree with you, but there’s so much more to
Tony than his good looks. I’m going to give it this one last try. If it doesn’t
work, I’ll take your advice and move on. I’ll be heartbroken, but I owe it to
myself to find what Jaq, Carlie, and Violet have. True love is out there for me
too. I feel it.”
PhD student Ardyth Nightshade has renounced men and pursues her twentieth-century career with single-minded focus. When fate whisks her to medieval England, she meets her match in a man whose passions mirror her own. Can she sacrifice ambition for a love she never sought?
Hugh, Lord Seacrest confounds all who know him. He refuses to marry without a meeting of minds and hearts, and no lady has even approached his ideal…until Ardyth. But she’s an odd one, with unique skills, shocking habits, and total conviction she needs no man. She also harbors secrets, and in the midst of rumors, plots, and murder, trust is fragile.
A woman outside of her time. A man ahead of his. They must take a leap of faith to forge a bond that will shape history.
Lady Constance de Bret was determined to be a nun, until shadows from the past eclipsed her present. Marriage is the safest option, but she insists on a spiritual union, in which physical intimacy is forbidden. Not so easy with a bridegroom who wields unparalleled charm! But a long-buried secret could taint his affection and cloak her in shadow forever.
Back from the Crusades, Sir Robert le Donjon craves a home of his own and children to inherit it. From the moment he meets Constance, he feels a mysterious bond between them. When she’s threatened, he vows to protect her and agrees to the spiritual marriage, with the hope of one day persuading her to enjoy a “real” one. She captivates him but opens old wounds and challenges everything he thought he believed.
Two souls in need of healing. Two hearts destined to beat as one.
A Norman loyalist, Lady Jocelyn bristles when ordered to marry Wulfstan, a Saxon sorcerer. She nurses a painful secret and would rather bathe in a cesspit than be pawed by such a man…until her lifelong dream of motherhood rears its head.
A man of magic and mystery, Wulfstan has no time for wedded bliss. He fears that consummating their marriage will bind their souls and wrench his focus from the ancient riddle his dying mother begged him to solve. He’s a lone wolf, salving old wounds with endless work. But Jocelyn stirs him as no woman ever has.
Their attraction is undeniable. Their fates are intertwined. Together, they must face their demons and bring light to a troubled land.
How eager would the bridegroom be if he knew he could never bed the bride?
Lady Emma of Ravenwood Keep is prepared to give Sir William l’Orage land, wealth, and her hand in marriage. But her virginity? Not unless he loves her. The curse that claimed her mother is clear: unless a Ravenwood heir is conceived in love, the mother will die in childbirth. Emma is determined to dodge the curse. Then William arrives, brandishing raw sensuality which dares her to explore her own.
William the Storm isn’t a man to be gainsaid. He’ll give her protection, loyalty, and as much tenderness as he can muster. But malignant memories quell the mere thought of love. To him, the curse is codswallop. He plans a seduction to breach Emma’s fears and raze her objections. What follows is a test of wills and an affirmation of the power of love.

Second Chances is an adult fiction romance novel: Hunter O’Conner has a rough childhood, so it’s not surprising when he turns down the wrong path. Growing up with an abusive father, we can’t help but feel sorry for him and wish, as he does, that “Mr. Wilson was his father” instead. He’s not, but this father figure helps teach Hunter some lessons which will ultimately help him turn his life around when he gets a proverbial “second chance.” It is a captivating story that teaches us it’s never too late to change and do the right thing.

KC and I met through a mutual acquaintance. We share a love for the fantasy genre!
Author Bio
KC Freeman lives in North Carolina with her husband, five
children, and the dog who daily trips her going up the stairs. After leaving
her corporate job to be a stay-at-home-mom, she found her way back to her
childhood dream – writing.
Prior to Rekindled Prophecy:
Greylyn the Guardian Angel Series Book 1 she contributed a paranormal
romance short story to the Autumn/Winter 2017 anthology The Bowman’s Inn. Another paranormal romance short story was
published with the After Dark: 9 Modern
Takes on Classic Fairy Tales anthology where readers can be introduced to
an upcoming character in the Greylyn saga.
KC writes mostly fantasy and paranormal romance novels. She is also a professional editor.
Tell us about yourself.
I
am a wife and mother of five (ages 14-19). I left corporate America behind a
few years ago to raise my kids in North Carolina. During this time I gravitated
back to my first love – writing fiction, particularly stories with supernatural
elements. For a while I was a ghost writer for cozy mysteries and romance, but
once my confidence increased in my abilities, I struck out on my own to write
under my own name. I have two paranormal romance short stories published in
anthologies (The Bowman’s Inn
Autumn/Winter 2017 Anthology and After
Dark: 9 Modern Takes on Classic Fairy Tales). When I’m not writing I’m
doing the mom thing, but hope to add more travel adventures soon, particularly
to Ireland where my female main character from the Greylyn the Guardian Angel series is from and where most on Book 3
will take place.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
Since birth. Always wanted to write. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be the next Stephen King, but real life got in the way for a good chunk of my life when I had to do the adulting thing – college, career in a field I really had no interest in, more schooling to get an advanced degree in a field I had no interest in, and then kids came along.
What genres do you like to read?
I love paranormal and fantasy fiction, which is what I write. However, I am a huge fan of historical fiction (anything to do with the Tudors and Ancient Egypt) and military thrillers.
Are these the same genres you write in?
I write fantasy and paranormal fiction with a heaping helping of romance, but I do have ideas for other stories outside the genre.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
18 years old and up is my target audience; however, I would
guess 15+ could also read it since there’s no sex, only romantic angst.
What is your current release or project?
I just sent Book 2 of the Greylyn the Guardian Angel series, current working title Revelations, to the publisher. Book 3 is in the editing stage and looks like the characters aren’t done with me yet so planning out Book 4 and perhaps 5.
Tell us about the key characters.
Greylyn is a guardian angel. She’s roamed the Earth for 450
years protecting humans and saving them from their own inner demons and the
more nefarious real ones. She’s originally from Ireland, but has no memory of
her human life.
Kael is a dark guardian (opposite of angel). He keeps
showing up to thwart her efforts to save people. But in Rekindled Prophecy they find themselves working together to save a
young woman and her unborn child. There’s always been sexual tension between
them, but Greylyn fights it with everything she’s got.
Jasper is Greylyn’s best friend and fellow guardian angel.
He’s French royalty from centuries ago and he hates Kael with the power of a
thousand hells.
Olivier is a fallen arch angel. It’s rumored he whispered
rebellion into Lucifer’s ear. He wants a prophecy fulfilled and will utilize
every tool he has to force Greylyn to comply.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
Guardian angel, Greylyn saves innocent humans from their own
inner demons or the more nefarious real ones. She’s overdue for some rest and
relaxation, but upon finding her archenemy already entrenched at an authentic
Irish bed and breakfast, she knows her vacation is over before it ever starts.
Enemies for over four centuries, Greylyn has fought the dark
guardian, Kael; and fought her desire for him. This time, however, she must
work with the dashing dark guardian to protect innocent lives. It’s a deadly
gamble. One she has no choice but to take.
But the situation is far more treacherous than she realizes
as a notorious fallen archangel holds the lives of a mother and her unborn
child over Greylyn’s head to force her to consummate a dormant, but deadly
prophecy. One so deadly that Heaven didn’t even write it down.
Rekindled
Prophecy: Greylyn the Guardian Angel is a fantasy/paranormal novel
with strong undertones of romance and sex appeal between two enemies – one
working for Heaven, the other working for Hell.
Share an excerpt
Greylyn gulped in air. She wasn’t dead, not yet. Renewed energy pulsated through her body and gave her strength to push herself up on shaky arms. She stared, turning to look at each man as they circled each other. Both men with deadly intent etched on their faces. In between getting hit, and throwing jabs of his own, the stranger muttered, “Had to be you! It just had to be you!” One final uppercut to Jasper’s jaw, and the guardian angel fell back.
Her mouth opened to scream for
him to leave Jasper alone, but no words came out. He turned to her, his face
bloodied, but with a sad smile. “Until next time, love.” Seconds later, he
vanished down the alleyway.
Suddenly able to move again,
Greylyn jumped up and ran over to Jasper. “Who the hell was that?”
“Oh, I’m fine, by the way.”
With the indignant look he flashed her, she knew Jasper was far from being
fine. Physically, yes, he was alright. But his icy-blue eyes spoke volumes of
fury she could not under-stand.
“I’m so sorry …” She checked
him for injuries, hands roved over his body. His clothes were spatter-ed with
blood. Other than his pride, and a black eye that would fade in an hour or two,
he was in perfect shape.
Greylyn knew she looked a mess.
Hell, she should be dead. Instead, the blood had already dried and the sizzle
of her bones mending underneath her skin comforted her.
I’m not going to die. At
least not tonight.
Jasper cupped her chin. “Yes, I
know. It’s my fault. It was too soon to send you out on your own like that. I
realized my mistake and came to find you, in case you needed assistance.” A
nerve twitched in his jaw. “And, I find I was correct. You certainly needed
help.”
“Oh, no! Edward? Did he escape?
I came out here looking for him, but these guys,” she waved her hand toward the
corpses littering the alley, “were after him and …”
“Yes, yes. I get it. You ran
into the bad guys and as a bonus, you got a bloody dark guardian your first
time on your own.”
“A what?”
“A dark guardian. The exact
opposite of us, darling. You are just lucky I came along when I did. That one
would’ve carved you up like a porterhouse steak.” He pushed himself off the
ground. At his full height of well over six feet tall, he towered above her.
“Does this dark guardian have a
name?” She didn’t know why it mattered that she find out his name.
Jasper narrowed his eyes at her
in obvious disapproval. “That one in particular is Kael,” Jasper spat. “Truly
nasty piece of work. Avoid him at all costs. Hopefully, you will never have to
see that creature again.”
He turned toward her and grabbed her by the upper
arms, leaning forward so they were nose to nose. An aroma of whiskey and
tobacco wafted into her face. “Greylyn, promise me that you will stay away from
Kael. If he ever crosses your path, either annihilate him completely with your
dagger through his heart and then rip it out of his body while it’s still
beating; or run. Just run.”
Do you have a favorite scene?
Greylyn gets cornered by a shadow creature and ends up jumping into a deep koi pond to escape. Problem is, she can’t swim. But someone tall, dark, and incredibly handsome saves her. She’s more humiliated when she has to reveal that she still can’t swim after 450 years on Earth.
What advice would you give a beginner?
Trust your story to unfold naturally. Seek help from other authors, but stay true to your story. Some people think you have to follow a template for creating the story, but sometimes the story in your head has other ideas. Trust that story.
“Five of us stand between a vengeful God,
his monsters and end of the world.”
As Queen of the seas, the fate of the world
now rests upon my shoulders. My powers are raw and untapped, I must learn to
harness them quickly before my father kills me and everything I love.
With just four weeks before Poseidon plans to
wipe out all of humankind, my men and I must work together to formulate a plan
to destroy him, adding one more problem to the mix could make or break us.
As a Selkie army moves closer and closer and
other outside forces threaten to destroy all that I hold dear, can we
survive long enough to put that plan into action?
Should we fail, it would mean the end.
