Interviews with authors about their new releases or their writing
Jules Hunter
Jules Hunter is actually a writing team. I met her during a takeover (I think) and I asked her some questions only to discover Jules Hunter is actually a writing team. I found it fascinating and we started talking.
Author Bio

Jules Hunter is a pseudonym for a husband wife writing team. After 19 wonderful years together they decided to turn their life experiences into novels. They live in Orange County California and run mostly off of coffee and sarcasm (well, Jules & Hunter call it wit). When they’re not researching the viability of the steamy scenes they write, they are at the beach or their favorite coffee shop creating their next romance.
In order to get both perspectives, I’ve asked Jules Hunter to have both partners answer the questions. Tell us about yourself.
Jules: I grew up as an Army brat and lived in Europe and the Middle East most of my life. I finally ended up in Southern California where I met my husband and have had 19 exciting years with him We have a son and daughter; and a grandson and granddaughter.
Hunter: I played sports through high school mainly water polo and volleyball. After many years in construction, I moved into the electronics recycling world and have owned an electronics recycling company with my wife for 5 years now.
Jules & Hunter: Being co-authors, we had to figure out a way that worked best for us to write. It was easy to start the process. We came up with the revenge betting games concept and from there decided on the main characters and outlined the story. Once that was complete, we outlined each chapter. It was when we had to decide how to get it on paper, that we had to employ a few different methods. We finally settled on either recording as we role play the characters or Jules typing as we both role play the characters. There are times that we disagree and Hunter will take the laptop to stop me from typing, and with him being 6’6” I have to work hard to get it back. Needless to say it’s a melee by the time our children and grandchildren get in on the action of trying to get the laptop back to Jules.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Jules: I’ve wanted to be an author since was a young child. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I finally began writing. An author I respect very much suggested that I write about my life experiences as they have been many and very colorful. My husband and every family member I have had been telling me the same thing so Hunter said let’s do this together and so we did.
Hunter: I decided in January 2019, and began writing with Jules. She is an avid reader of many genres and I knew writing was what she should be doing. As her best friend, I wanted to experience that with her and we had so much fun that we’ve decided to keep it going.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
Jules: I mostly read anything RH with a good story. I also love erotica, dark reads, sci-fi, and romance. And we do write RH and romance.
Hunter: Fantasy and Science Fiction. We don’t write in it yet, but will be soon!
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
Jules & Hunter: Deceived is absolutely an 18+ series. There are very steamy scenes and a lot of cursing, betting and murder.
What is your current release or project?
Jules & Hunter: Deceived is our first book and it releases on Amazon September 10th (Today!!! ) We are currently working on Erased, book 2 of our Animus Series and are also outlining a few urban fantasy RH stories.
Tell us about the key characters

Kaia: The FMC had lived a hard life on the streets and currently runs a revenge betting game that has made her a lot of money. She is a surfer and prefers to live on her boat. She definitely has some lessons to learn and grows as a character.
Wolf: Kaia’s cheating ex-fiancé.
Raphael: Kaia’s best friend and new love interest. Part of the spec. ops. team protecting Kaia
Kir: A surfer and part of the spec. ops. team protecting Kaia also a huge smartass that likes to mess with Kaia.
Andreas: Sexy, extremely smart and a tech expert. Also on the spec. ops. team protecting Kaia.
Ji-Tae: Not much is known about him.
Jaxson: Sexy southern drawl, tall muscular alpha male. Leader of the spec. op. team protecting Kaia.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
Living on a luxury yacht on the Southern California coast, after years of surviving on the streets, is a dream come true for Kaia. Being in the revenge business pays well, and Kaia has no problem exposing the greed, infidelity, and murderous intent of society’s worst humans through her own private channels, especially if it keeps her surrounded by surf, sun, and gorgeous men. After all, the only people really getting hurt are the liars and the cheaters. So what if Kaia benefits from them? As far as she’s concerned, she has the perfect life. Until she doesn’t…
When a brutal attack leaves Kaia shaken and exposed, she’s given no choice but to accept the protection of her uncle’s Spec Ops team. Unfortunately, the team comes with an agenda, and it’s not only to keep Kaia in their sights, but also to keep her in their bed. Overwhelmed by the constant attention, Kaia needs time to figure her life out and make some decisions. But things go from complicated to a total cluster when her cheating ex turns up to take over the operation. Kaia doesn’t know who to trust, who to believe, and where to turn, which leaves her vulnerable in a way that could be deadly.
Warning: This book contains a messed-up revenge game that is at best ethically dubious, a bratty heroine who has no problem pushing boundaries, two, no three, no four men who have decided that she is theirs to protect and claim, and lots of very steamy sex.

Deceived – The Animus Series Book 1
“Members, welcome to tonight’s viewing of Animus, where we satisfy your need for revenge. Note that per event rules, your monitors are now in my control.” My hip-length platinum hair slides over my shoulder as I tilt my head, giving a dark, ironic smirk into the camera for my rapt audience—these people who thrive on betting over someone else’s hardships.
“Tonight’s event is ‘Your Money or Your Wife.’ Mr. Harold Connelly is the subject. Bets close in five minutes; your monitors will then broadcast the game.” Look at them, baying for blood while staring expectantly at me through their viewing screens, eagerly waiting for me to start this evening’s entertainment.
I’m not surprised, though. It’s always been like this. This isn’t my first rodeo; I’ve been running Animus events since I created it in high school to get fast cash with a side of revenge against the world’s biggest assholes.
After I black out their monitors, I set an automatic timer so the event will broadcast on the members’ viewing screens in exactly five minutes, then I decide there’s just enough time to hit my wet bar—a perk of living on my sleek, white 105-foot yacht. Patrón shots and an ice-cold Negra Modelo are on my agenda tonight.
I throw back a few shots before opening a beer, then I get cozy in my custom leather captain’s chair, ready to monitor the game.
Behind me is a beige wall devoid of anything—a necessity so Animus members aren’t distracted during my broadcast. Views of every angle of tonight’s event, on eight of the best 4K LED screens money can buy, make sure I don’t miss a thing.
Glancing at my personal monitor where I can view the members’ reactions to the game, I shake my head at their looks of anticipation. I then power up seven other monitors showing the event taking place at the restaurant my employees set up especially for tonight’s game. The event has already begun.
“Did you hear me, Mr. Connelly? I said give up your money or your wife dies.” A sleek-looking man wearing a bespoke gray pinstripe suit is looming over Harold Connelly, holding a briefcase.
As Connelly laughs hard, both of his massive chins jiggle from the force, making me cringe. To take the focus off his Jabba the Hutt chins, I switch to a different angle; it helps so…hooray for me!
“Who the hell do you think you are? Fucking ignorant prick. Look around. What could you do to her in public?” As Connelly gestures to the patrons scattered around the restaurant enjoying their dinners and chatting, he says, “Walk out that door right now, and I’ll forget this ever happened.”
“Mr. Connelly, I’ll say this for the final time,” the sleek-looking man—or as I refer to him, New Guy—leans in closer to Connelly, his voice quiet compared to the cacophony of the restaurant. “Your wife’s been sipping from a wine glass laced with poison, and I have the antidote. As far as it concerns everyone here, it won’t matter who I am, or how it happened.
“Imagine it—she will seize, the pain wracking her body. That’s when she’ll hit the floor. She’ll most likely bite her tongue. The blood will mix with the vomit spewing from her mouth. Her head will bang repeatedly on the floor, ruining that beautiful face of hers. And then, with agony coursing through her veins, she will perish, gone forever.” New Guy leers at him. Damn, that’s almost too dramatic of a description. I’m not sure he’ll be a good addition to Animus.
He plucks a tablet out of his briefcase and deposits it on the dining table. Tonight’s his first night on the job, his trial run, so he better not screw it up. He beams the smile of a man who assumes he’s won, but I know better. Harold Connelly is a douchebag, and that will never change.
“Scan your thumbprint and transfer the money,” New Guy demands, studying his wristwatch. “Three minutes, Harold, three minutes left, before she is on the floor losing her shit.”
Do you have a favorite scene?
Jules: My fave scene is when Kaia runs into her ex at her birthday party. Kir ends up grabbing her and asking her to dance and I have to say that Kir ran away with the scene surprising both Hunter and I and Kir ended up writing the entire scene. I think it is a great scene for any woman that wanted to show off her two new boyfriends to her lying, cheating ex.
Hunter: My favorite scene is when Wolf and Jax meet for the first time. They are in Vicente’s office during Kaia’s birthday party and really do not get along. I found writing all of the birthday party scenes to be particularly challenging trying to get the timing right while showing it from multiple POV’s
What advice would you give a beginner?
Jules: Don’t listen to the people that try to bring you down. Keep writing if that makes you happy. There is a book for every reader and a reader for every book is what my wonderful editor Christa Desir always tells me.
Hunter: When you hit a brick wall, don’t keep ramming your head into it. Take a step back and have a piece of pie. Be constant, when writing, start and end with the same enthusiastic attitude.

Zia Westfield
Zia Westfield is the next contributor to Black Velvet Seductions Mystic Desire. Her short story is a paranormal shifter romance.
Author Bio

Zia Westfield creates suspenseful, exciting stories with romance at the heart of them. There is nothing more thrilling than watching two people fall in love despite the odds and the danger surrounding their every move.
She makes her home in Tokyo with her husband and three sons. She holds a full-time job, volunteers too much because she doesn’t know how to say “no,” and generally finds peace between the pages of a book or when she’s writing out the stories in her head.
Tell us about yourself.
I’m an Italian-American with the noisy family that comes with that and have lived in Japan for many years. My husband is Japanese with all the traditions and rules of that culture. It makes for interesting times at our house! We’ve raised three boys, who are university age, so I’m preparing for an empty nest soon. During the day I teach English as a foreign language to university students, a job that keeps me hopping. At night, I try to write whenever I can before I faceplant after a long day. I love walking along the beach, being with family, and watching Hallmark mysteries. I’m a sucker for a good romance and mystery. 🙂
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
My nose was always stuck in a book when I was a child. I think it was probably middle school or high school that the idea of writing a story glimmered as a possibility. But authors seemed like magical people with incredible imaginations. How could I possibly do something like that? It took many years and motherhood to give me the courage to actually try bringing the characters in my mind to life.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
Mystery (especially cozy mysteries). Romantic Suspense. Paranormal Romance. I write in Romantic Suspense and Paranormal Romance. I haven’t tried to write a cozy mystery yet, but I think it would be a fun genre to work in.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
Mystic Desire is an anthology of short paranormal romance stories for adults.
What is your current release or project?

Mystic Desire is out now! Woo hoo! In October, the next book in my Deadly Encounter series, Killer Deceptions will release.
Tell us about the key characters
Bewitching the Wolf is my story in Mystic Desire. Alice Humphreys is a witch who is loyal, hardworking and determined to remain single. Brodie MacEwan is a wolf shifter who believes in the ties of family and the soul-deep connection to the one woman fated to be his mate. When the two meet, it’s sparks all around!
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?

Alice Humphreys has poured her heart and soul into creating a magical B&B where guests experience their fantasy vacation in their dreams. When Brodie MacEwan arrives looking for a room, she gives him his choice of the adventure room, the relaxation room or the romance room. There is something all too predatory about the Scotsman and he makes her body tingle in places it shouldn’t!
Brodie has been sent to investigate the mysterious death of his uncle. He never expects to discover his mate in his dreams. But is the illusion real? As he moves closer to identifying the woman his soul is bound to, he must deal with a grumpy leprechaun, a ghostly terrier, bumps in the night, and musical bedrooms. Any other wolf shifter would turn tail and run, but Brodie never gives up when he’s in pursuit and never when the stakes are so high!

An hour later, they were sitting around the table. Despite Alice’s best intentions, she had ended up next to Brodie. With every spoonful of Aunt Cora’s stew, she inhaled Brodie’s scent to the point that if someone has asked how the food tasted, she would have replied “wild with a dash of the outdoors.”
A loud crash from above caused Alice to spill stew on her shirt. Oggie snatched the wine from the table, cradling it in the crook of his arm. “ ʼTis an earthquake,” he bellowed. Puddles popped into the room and ran toward them, but as Brodie stood up, Puddles skidded to a stop, yelped and poofed away.
Alice wiped off the sauce trailing down her shirt, then tossed her napkin on the table. “I’ll go see what happened.” She addressed Brodie, grateful to escape his presence. “Please enjoy Aunt Cora’s amazing apple pie for dessert.”
Brodie nodded towards Aunt Cora. “Please save me a piece. I’ll go with your niece.” He scraped back his chair and stood, his gray eyes darkened with a swirl of emotion she didn’t understand but that sent a shiver down her back.
She led the way up the stairs, aware of him behind her the whole way. When she reached the room directly above the dining room, he moved in front of her.
“What room is this?” he asked in a low rumble.
She dropped her own voice in response. “Henry Duncan’s study. Nothing has been touched. Aunt Cora wouldn’t allow it.”
He nodded and, standing to the side, opened the door slowly and then pushed it fully open. He stepped inside and, after peering in, Alice followed. She noted that Brodie had no problem maneuvering in the darkness. For her own sake, she hit the lights.
The French windows to the balcony were open; the curtains billowed into the room with drops of wind and rain. Alice hurried across to thrust the large windows closed, locking the handles. She turned and surveyed the room. A pile of books lay on the floor next to the desk.
“These books must have tumbled off when the windows blew open,” Alice said.
Brodie nodded. He prowled the room like a predator, the movement of his muscles mesmerizing and completely unacceptable. He was her guest—a guest who was cutting up her peace of mind.
“Well, that should do it. Shall we go back?”
Brodie glanced at her, his gaze more silvery than gray. “Not yet.”
Alice frowned. She was about to remind him that he was a guest in the house when Puddles popped out from behind a bookcase, ran over to a large armchair situated near a standing lamp and sniffed the rug.
“What’s the dog’s name?” Brodie asked, everything about him on alert.
Puddles stiffened. His head came up, and tucking his tail beneath his legs, he scampered back towards the bookcase.
“It’s Puddles.” She tapped her chin with her finger. “He seems afraid of you. I wonder why,” she added dryly.
He ignored her. He barked out something in a language she didn’t understand, except for the word Puddles, and darn if that dog didn’t turn around and obediently trot over to the man.
Brodie squatted down and, holding the dog’s gaze, appeared to hold silent communication with the Scottish terrier. Puddles’s tail began whipping side to side with increasing vigor. He let out a yip, ducked his head, and then disappeared.
“Humph,” Alice sounded, crossing her arms. “What was that all about?”
Brodie rose and, once again, seemed to draw all the energy in the room towards him. But the predator in him had receded, the silvery shade of his eyes back to slate gray.
“Puddles said that Henry wanted a book to read,” Brodie said, his mouth quirking upwards.
Alice stared at him in horror. “Do you mean I have a second ghost?” Alice looked up at the ceiling and then shook her fist at it. “Henry Duncan,” she shouted. “You broke Aunt Cora’s heart!”
Brodie’s mouth dropped open. “Lass, he’s dead.”
“That’s no excuse.” She brushed past him, pausing only long enough to say, “I want a slice of pie before Oggie eats it all. Are you coming?” She marched out the door and thought about how Aunt Cora had cried for days after Henry passed on. Her aunt was wrong. Men dumped, deceived and died. So no matter Brodie MacEwan’s good looks and her traitorous body’s responses, she was standing strong.
Do you have a favorite scene?
I love the scenes Oggie is in. His way with words makes me smile every time I read them. I also can’t help enjoying the fight Alice puts up to hold back the inevitable.
What advice would you give a beginner?
Keep writing! There is no magic formula. Writing is a craft and like any skill, it takes constant practice and a lot of perseverance to reach The End.

Sandra glanced at her watch. “Ten minutes before we are due at the bank. After that, we’ll have a drink at the club. We deserve it.”
Rachel fingers clenched. “When we’ve signed whatever papers they need signed, I’ll be on my way.”
Sandra stopped walking. “There’s still a lot to do. The Salvation Army is collecting the furniture tomorrow, the estate agent wants the keys after we lock up the house and there’s bound to be something we’ve forgotten.”
Rachel shook her head. “You don’t need me to watch them carry out furniture nor do you need me to take the keys to the agent.”
“This happens every time,’ Sandra snapped angrily. “You drop everything in my lap and walk away. What’s bugging you Rachel? You’ve been edgy and downright rude to Greg.”
“Stuff Greg. Nothing’s bugging me and if I want to leave now I will.”
“For once in your aimless life, this is not about you, this is about Aunt Frances and all she did for us,” Sandra threw back at her.
“I know what Aunt Frances did for us and you love taking charge and basking in the accolades after.”
Sandra’s cheeks burned. “You don’t care about anyone except yourself. You drink too much, you can’t keep a job for more than a year,” she jabbed Rachels’s chest,“It’s no wonder you fall for the arseholes of this world.”
“Shut up Sandra!”
“No, I won’t shut up. Why do you fall for no-hopers with balls as big as their egos then drink yourself stupid when they drop you?”
A lump formed in Rachel’s throat. Because I can’t find what I’m looking for.
Sandra threw her hands in the air. “Forget it, you are hopeless. Greg said last night you’d want to leave as soon as you knew what Aunt Frances was worth.”
Anger dissolved the lump. “I’d rather be hopeless than a chardonnay sipping, social climbing snob without a bank account to match,” Rachel hissed furiously. “I’ll bet my last dollar that the first question Greg asks, after his oozing, ‘how are you, my darling’ will be ‘did you get everything fixed up with the solicitor?’ You can tell Greg– No, I’ll phone him myself to tell him in very plain language where he can get off and never to speak to me again.”
Sandra’s mouth had dropped open in shock.
Rachel’s shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry. I don’t want to fight. Let’s get it over with at the bank and then I am driving up the coast.”
Several seconds passed before Sandra found her voice. “Why? What about your job?”
When Rachel didn’t reply Sandra closed her eyes in despair. “Don’t tell me you’ve lost your job.”
“I didn’t lose my job, I quit,” Rachel replied stiffly.
“Quit? When?”
After I recognised the man in the photo. “A few days ago. I’m driving to Grafton and perhaps go up the range to Glen Innes.”
“Glen Innes?” Sandra repeated incredulously. “For God’s sake why and for that matter, what happened to your fear of heights and getting sick on winding roads?”
“That’s for me to worry about,” Rachel replied. “I am sorry Sandra but I’m leaving after the bank.”
Tight lipped, Sandra resumed walking, with Rachel following.
Two long hours later, Rachel re-joined the Pacific Highway. She’d held it together at the bank and the awkward moment on the pavement before their curt goodbyes, but now as the car picked up speed, her throat ached with unshed tears. Their nasty argument and Sandra’s brutal words had cut into her like a knife. And, that horrible rhyme wouldn’t go out of her head. Always the bridesmaid never the bride, loser in love empty inside. That just about sums you up Rachel. Never knowing what you want in life, alone in a crowd, disappointing your family, never good enough. Falling for men who win you over with charm and then wipe their feet on you. What did that psychologist say? “You are harbouring deep insecurity and guilt from your childhood.” When I retorted, ‘What guilt? I had a wonderful, secure childhood,” she’d gone on about looking within myself and finding new interests and friends. Friends? Sandra had been your best friend until she married that patronising, smooth talking “would be if he could be.” Rachel’s eyes blurred with tears. Now you’re driving north without knowing why and–
“Keep your eyes on the road!” a voice ordered as a semi-trailer roared past.
“Oh shit!” Rachel swerved back to the left lane and glanced at the empty passenger seat. “Now I’m going mad!”
“No, you’re not,” the voice said softly. “I will meet you there.”
A mere suggestion of a hand brushing her shoulder made her shiver and it all became clear. She knew where she was going.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Yes, where she arrives at the Mann River Reserve, on the Great Dividing Range, and walks through the veil, to her former life.
What advice would you give a beginner?
Don’t give up, keep writing.

Dee S. Knight
Dee is the second in the series of authors from Black Velvet Seductions. She also has a story in Mystic Desire.
Author Bio
A few years ago, Dee S. Knight began writing, making getting up in the morning fun. During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. Writing was so much fun Dee decided to keep at it. That’s how she spends her days. Her nights? Well, she’s lucky that her dream man, childhood sweetheart, and long-time hubby are all the same guy, and nights are their secret. For romance ranging from sweet to historical, contemporary to paranormal and more, join Dee on Nomad Authors: htpps://nomadauthors.com.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve been writing erotic romance for many years now and still love it. I married my high school sweetheart and use that as inspiration for all of the happily-ever-afters I’ve spun through the years. I write under three names: Dee S. Knight (erotic romance and a couple of ménage romances), Anne Krist (straight, sweeter romance), and Jenna Stewart (all ménage, some historical, some shapeshifter). No matter who I am at the moment, it’s all still romance.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?
After writing my first book, which came about as something of an accident. We were living in a small town in South Carolina while hubby finished up a consulting job. I was at loose ends for a couple of months and he suggested I use up some time by writing a book. I said okay—that sounds like fun. And like an idiot—because I didn’t know that’s not how it’s done—I wrote a book. I was hooked from that moment on.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
I love all forms of romance (of course), but I also love legal thrillers, mystery, suspense, military adventures. There really isn’t a whole lot I won’t read. A look at my Kindle library would make people wonder about my taste, lol.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
Adults only. Even my sort of non-erotic romance is intended for adults.

What is your current release or project?
Currently, I’m in Mystic Desire, a supernatural anthology by Black Velvet Seductions. I actually have two stories. An Awareness of Evil (as Dee) is about a psychic who senses a child is in grave danger, but she can’t quite see who or where she is. Life Saving (Anne) is about a man on the brink of ending his life. I won’t say more! BVS has put together a great group of writers for this anthology, and I’m very proud to be part of it! At the same time, I’m working on finishing Book 2 of the Good Man series.

Tell us about the key characters
In An Awareness of Evil, Amanda McMasters is a psychic who goes to the police asking for help in finding a child who is in danger. She can’t really tell them anything, however. As her sensations become more and more intense, she’s almost at her wit’s end. Amanda is a truly good person who wants to help when she can, and not “seeing” enough detail for the police to step in is very frustrating. Of course, there is a young, handsome detective standing by to encourage her. 😉
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
An Awareness of Evil: Only two things stand between evil and a small girl: the visions of Amanda McMasters and Detective Brendan Gilchrist. Neither can afford to be wrong.
Life Saving: Saving lives isn’t just for adults. Sometimes the innocent magic of a child can do the job better.

An Awareness of Evil:
“There’s not much more frightening to a child than hearing a parent cry.” Amanda Masterson clutched her purse in her lap and tried to keep from twisting her hands. She stared at the nameplate on the front of the desk. Det. Donny Connor. He looked older than the other detective and probably had more experience but she wished she were speaking with the younger guy, doodling as he listened to her and his partner. He sat sideways to his desk with the chair pushed back onto two legs, looking as though he hadn’t a care in the world. But something told her that he heard every word.
“I can imagine,” Detective Connor said in a low voice. He seemed as though he were trying to sound soothing but a note of frustration hit between his words. “And so, you heard someone crying.”
“Not exactly.”

Detective Connor blew out a breath, laid his pen on the desk and then picked it up again. “Ms. Masterson, you’ve been trying to tell us what’s up for the past fifteen minutes. Why don’t you just say it and let us decide what’s important or not?” The detective looked to his partner sitting at the next desk. Detective Gilchrist gave him a bare nod. So far, that was the most interaction she’d seen from him.
Amanda took a deep breath and braced herself to tell the men what she’d been trying to avoid. “I don’t actually hear crying.”
“You don’t actually hear—”
“More like I sense it.”
The detective slowly placed the pen on his desk again. “You sense it.”
“Right.”
Detective Connor stretched his arms and folded his fingers behind his head. “So you don’t see the person crying. You don’t hear anyone crying. You don’t actually see a child.”
“That’s right.” She knew what was coming but knowing didn’t diminish the frustration. Or the pain in once again not being believed. “I’m something of a psychic.” She hadn’t meant to sound small, but that’s how it came out anyway.
Detective Connor dropped his hands to the desk and jerked the pen off the notepad. “You’re psychic.”
“Yes.”
“I see. And you’re sensing that this child you can’t see or hear is frightened.”
“I know it.”
“Okay, where is this child? We’ll be sure to check it out, won’t we Brendan?”
“Absolutely.”
Now Amanda didn’t bother trying to keep her hands still. She squeezed her fingers and released. Squeezed and released. “I don’t know.”
“Ms. Masterson, what exactly do you expect us to do? You don’t have any idea of who the kid is or how we can find it.”
“Her. I’m sure it’s a little girl crying.” She shook her head and narrowed her brows in worry. “I don’t know. I thought maybe you’d had a report of a domestic disturbance or something I might be able to draw on. I’ve been sensing her for two days now. It’s getting worse. She’s scared and I don’t know how to help her.” Her voice had risen to the point that people at desks around them had stopped to look. Amanda took another deep breath. “Look, I’m sorry. If I had more information, I’d tell you. But I can’t keep this to myself anymore.”
“Can’t keep what to yourself, miss? You haven’t told us anything.”
“Amanda Masterson,” murmured the other detective. “I think I’ve heard that name before. Have you been involved in another police case?
“Yes, last year in Spokane.” She had lived there until moving the eighty or so miles to Milford, Idaho. Once she had helped the Spokane police solve the murder case, she’d lost all privacy. People called morning, noon, and night asking for help in finding everything from lost dogs to lost keys. Or worse, more lost children. The stories had broken her heart and the constant requests had destroyed her peace. When her landlord told her she’d have to move or control the numbers of people banging on her door, she had little choice but to leave the Washington town. She’d chosen a smaller place in the more rural neighboring state. The last thing she needed now was to have the same problem start up again.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Yes. The final scene. *grin* I can’t say more.
What advice would you give a beginner?
There isn’t any better writing lesson than to write. Write, write. But not just for yourself. The hardest lesson is to give your work to an impartial reader and see where what you’ve written can be improved. There isn’t a writer in the world, from Stephen King to a kid in the fifth grade struggling over a writing assignment who can’t benefit from constructive criticism.

Lora Logan
Lora came to me through Black Velvet Seductions. She’s the first in a series of interviews with many of their authors.
Author Bio

Not unlike many of her characters, Lora Logan is attracted to tough, tattooed men, and is lucky enough to be married to one! The mama of three Maltese puppies, she is an animal lover and can be found most days snuggling with them while reading or writing.
While Lora begins every story with an outline, her favorite part of writing is the fact that her characters usually steal the show. She happily follows behind with a pen in her hand as they choose their own trajectory.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Lora Logan and I write ROMANCE, ROMANCE and more ROMANCE! I live by the philosophy to write what I’m given, which means I have a tough time sticking to one genre of romance. I write contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and most recently paranormal romance. This is a bit of a taboo when it comes to writing but I can’t stop the characters that invade my mind and demand their stories be told- whatever their stories may be.
I am happily married to the most perfectly imperfect man and have three babies (maltese puppies, Josie, Rambo and Dixon.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve always been a writer, but when I knew I wanted to become an author is a different story entirely. It took a minute. There was a picture in my mind of how my life was supposed to end up. You know that narrative we all had to write in high school, where do you seen yourself in ten years? Well, my life went nothing like I had planned. After years, (and years, and years, and years), of failed fertility treatments I finally learned that children were not in the cards for me. It’s a difficult thing trying to figure out what your life is supposed to be when your missing something so profound. I spent years of my life just focused on being the best wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, employee…etc. While those things are certainly fulfilling, I soon came to the realization that there wasn’t much in my life that was just mine. So began the journey of figuring myself out. What was my dream? What made me happy and fulfilled as a person? After much soul searching, I found that writing fiction brings to me a purpose that I’d been missing. A chance to share with the world the scary inside of my mind, where these characters and their stories find life. My family is and will always be my main focus but being an author belongs to me.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
I try, I swear I do, to read outside of my own genres… I just love romance so much I can’t seem to stop myself! I would say that I read romance (all genres) 90% of the time. The other 10% is spent reading horror, self-help, and books on spirituality. When writing reading can take a backseat depending on where I’m at in my own process.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
Adults. There is a fair amount of sex and cursing in my books although it depends greatly on the characters. I have a potty mouth but not all of my characters share that trait.
What is your current release or project?

MYSTIC DESIRE is releasing on October 1, 2019 and is a collection of paranormal short stories. I was fortunate enough to join a group of very talented authors on this project and am so excited for its release. I loved working on this anthology and feel it’s a great opportunity for readers to find new authors they’ve not previously read. MYSTIC DESIRE has a little bit of everything, from sexy vampires, ghostly leprechauns, and lustful warlocks to enchanted artifacts. My story, CALLING ALL ANGELS is a tale of angels and demons.
I always have a lot of things happening at once in terms of writing. Currently I am finishing a contemporary romance novel and am set to begin working on a new series based off of my short story in MYSTIC DESIRE. I tend to write one project at a time while editing the previous one, that is my personal method although many authors can write more than one book at a time. I have a romantic suspense novel that is completed but needs some reworking and four other books that are outlined and waiting (not so patiently) to be started.
Tell us about the key characters
Elijah is immortal, his reality filled with the dark evils that attempt to take over the earth. He and his brothers fight to rid the world of demons that threaten the innocents. These demons whisper in the ears of the people to get them to fulfil their sinister acts. With the world full of so much evil, Elijah is consumed with it. Suffocating on it. That is until he meets Celeste. She is the perfect example of the innocence he is trying to protect. He soon realizes that something about her is different, bringing a peace to him that he’s never known. Their love is not perfect and Elijah soon realizes that the things he desires most could jeopardize the one thing he was put on this planet to do.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
MYSTIC DESIRE is a collection of short paranormal romance stories. This is a chance to read and discover the work of a diverse group of very talented authors. The themes in this book are varied, as are the collection of characters and artifacts, including Native American dream catchers, mystical jewelry, and characters such as lustful vampires, hot warlocks, a grumpy leprechaun, a ghostly terrier, a zombie apocalypse and things that go bump in the night. From soft and tender love to hot passionate, kinky sex, there is something for everyone in this anthology.

Synopsis for my short story:
CALLING ALL ANGELS, follows Elijah, an immortal tasked with fighting against the evil that exists on earth. He finds peace when he meets his new neighbor, Celeste, but when he realizes that their love comes with a great cost, he is faced with choosing between his calling and a chance at true love.
I enjoyed writing this story because it explores the evil of the world that exists on a plain which we cannot see, and how that world bleeds into our own. A story not based on reality… or is it? Of course, this is romance – seem far-fetched? It’s not because the one thing that can rid evil in any reality is love.
Do you have a favorite scene?
There are two scenes that stand out in my mind. The first is the initial sex scene. It is a favorite because it changed as it was being written. As with writing project I have the story finished in my mind and in the form of an outline prior to starting it. This particular scene ended up changing entirely as if the characters didn’t appreciate what I was going for. I like when my characters take control of their own trajectory and this was certainly one of those times.
My other favorite was the end. Of course, I’m giving none of that away.
What advice would you give a beginner?
Just write it already! Maybe the most seasoned of writers can start a manuscript knowing exactly how everything is going to work and write it perfectly from beginning to end – but that is far from the norm. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever met such an author. Write the story. Those holes in your story that you couldn’t work through in your mind will resolve themselves as the words are written. Your characters will develop into their own and you will learn them, how they respond, how they feel and what makes them unique. You will not be perfect, your story will need reworking. It’s an evolution that will happen naturally. If you’re anything like me, you will need an editor and they will help you not only with grammatical issues but also with the flow of your story. Your creativity is a gift, respect the gifts you are given and act on them. Lastly, the more you write the easier it becomes.

Dear Mirror: A Poetic Journey of Self-Reflection and Empowerment
Tell us about the key characters
The main character is intended to be both the author and the reader. Dear Mirror is dedicated to anyone ready to finally recognize their reflection and strives to drive the point that we are all connected through struggle and triumph.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
Broken into four parts Convex, Refraction, Concave, and Reflection, this collection of poetry and prose explores some of life’s most difficult challenges – mental health issues, relationship struggles, and societal standards.

Dear Mirror is a book of empowerment poetry that will guide the reader from a place of insecurity, darkness, heartbreak, and pain to discovering the true power that comes with hope, perseverance, and owning one’s true identity by embracing genuine self-acceptance and self-love.
Share an excerpt
The curtain opens to a place of darkness. A place of
convex distortion. A place of blame and insecurity.
A place of outward perspective and a lack of control.
Though, through a series of trials, heartbreaks, and
epiphanies, the story and the character begin to change –
the light begins to bend and refraction occurs. The story
twists to a concave, inward inspection. A claiming of
identity and responsibility. During the process of looking
within – a new strength is born. An unstoppable power
that cannot be shaken by the storms outside – not mental
health, not betrayal, not societal standards. The
foundation is strong because it is true – the crystal-clear
reflection of self that can’t be seen in any mirror; the most
powerful force on Earth.
That is very deep and meaningful. Beautiful! Do you have a favorite scene?
Inner Peace on Page 94 – the first poem in the final chapter, Reflection. This is the first poem of epiphany after the struggle experienced in the previous chapters.
What advice would you give a beginner?
First and foremost, write for yourself. Your message may not be for everybody but it is for somebody and that somebody needs to hear what you have to say. Stories outlive their tellers. Stories are your legacy. Don’t give up and don’t ever stop.

Blaze – When I open my eyes again all I see are dead bodies, they just haven’t hit the ground yet. Holding my katana with both hands I swipe left and right, heads drop to the floor and roll. Blood, guts and pieces of flesh fly through the air as the four of us decimate the crowd around Chris. A particularly fresh Panda lunges at me, his teeth filled with blood and bits of skin. He snaps at my face as I take one hand off my blade to push his chest, making him fall back into the bodies behind him.
I swing my weapon in an arc, taking down several other Panda on the way I remove his head from his body. Something hard hits my ribs, turning I come face to face with a Panda who is clearly several months old. The skin on his face is peeling away, leaning forward to bite me his foul breath fans my face. I force myself to not puke as I reach out to move him back when something hits me from behind sending me falling forward. I land on top of the gross Panda my hand crunching through his ribs as we land, and my fist hitting the ground beneath him. Stabbing my blade beside his hip I pull my hand back and thrust it into his face, palm out, it plows through his skull and into his brain, ending his life.

Someone shouts my name, but I cannot see through the cluster closing in on me. Grabbing my weapon I yank it out of the earth and stand. Connor, Crowley and Charlie have disappeared into the masses. That’s fine, I got this. With a battle cry, I spin on the spot. My sword held in both hands as I slice limbs from bodies, cut open throats and remove jaws from faces. A masculine voice rings out again just as my legs are taken from under me, and a heavy weight lands on my back taking the breath from my lungs. “Fuck!” My blade drops to the ground as my wrist hits dirt; pain shoots up my arm and I cry out. The weight shifts and the stench of death wraps around me.
Twisting my head slightly my eyes lock on with a slightly milky pair. One of Chris’s people. Hells yea. Pushing off the ground, I stand still completely surrounded by Panda. My cutlass nowhere in sight, I panic for just a second. Ending my little freak out, the odd Panda thrusts it’s hand towards me, a small blade rests there. Hands grab my shoulders as I snatch up the blade and turn jamming it into the skull of a bad Panda. Fuck sake, we are so going to have to come up with new names for normal Panda and Chris’ people. This is just getting confusing.

Punching faces with one hand and stabbing with the other I rack up quite the body count, Panda Beta?, PB for short?, I make headway into the troop of old Panda, OP for short?. The grey of the container comes into view as more bodies litter the floor. Careful not to trip I start to use their fallen bodies to climb further into the dwindling posse. Not moving towards the structure, but deeper into the Panda. Determined to clear the area I continue to use blade and hand to crush, punch, rip and tear through bodies. I lose myself in the heat of the battle, I love this.
“Kayla? What the fuck!”
Crowley’s voice can hardly be heard over the sounds of crunching bone, the shiver inducing sound of my blade sinking into soft gooey flesh and my own grunts of exertion. So many carcasses are around me now that I have to climb over the top of a pile so that more can reach me and meet their final deaths. I see a flash of the black t-shirt Connor is wearing, then a glimpse of the one Charlie is wearing as another Panda swings its arm out hitting me in the face. Grunting I shake it off until something hard hits the back of my head making me bite my lip. Wiping the back of my hand across my mouth it comes away wet. I don’t need to look to know its blood, I can taste it. The world spins for the millionth time in a few short days. I feel myself falling.

Chapter Twenty-One
Shaking my head clear I push my hands against the Panda in front of me to stop myself from falling. Turning around I come face to face with a massive Panda. Its milky eyes bore into mine as it reaches out wrapping both hands around my throat, squeezing. Struggling to get air past the digits around my neck I slam my fists into the creases of his arms, but he doesn’t break his vice like grip. Shit.
Memories assault me, laying helpless under a pile of rubble in a dark room. My blood cooling against the dirty wooden floor beneath me. Wishing with every ounce of my soul that I wasn’t a broken bitch, that I could just allow myself to love. And be loved. My mother’s face looking concerned as I refused to get to know any of the boys who visited Kaleidoscope farm. Hands grab my body in all directions and teeth sink into my flesh as four distinct male voices scream my name.
Four Ever

“Oh!” She moans out, and rocks her hips making Le slip in and out of her. The view I see is erotic as fuck. I take myself in my hand as Karl sits beside me. At some point he’d got naked and now has his own cock in his hand, pumping up and down with his both his hands wrapped around it. Karl and I have never touched each other during sex with other women, but I spit into the palm of my hand and rub it over his bell end. His light grey eyes flick to Everly`s, then to mine.
“Yes! So fucking sexy, oh I’m close!” Ever watches us with open interest.
“Karl do the same to Garrot, lick your palm and rub the end of his cock for me.” His eyes flick to mine again, then he licks his hand and slowly, he rubs it over the tip of me.

“You dirty bitch Ever. You like watching us pleasure each other, don’t you?” I ask.
“Yes, more!” She mewls back. Oh fuck me, the dirty little bitch. I wrap a hand around Karl’s cock, and bend to lick the bead of precum there. Then, with his saltiness still on my tongue, I take Ever’s mouth with a punishing kiss.
My tongue massaging hers as she moans into my mouth. I slap two fingers to her clit, taking care to not hit Le too, she shatters, throwing her head back onto Leylands chest. My hand strokes my cock until I cum all over her pussy and Leylands cock as he pistons in and out. Painting them both white.
“Oh fuck!” He shouts out and cums deep inside our girl.

“Cum Karl.” Ever says between panting breaths. Oh fuck me, she’s dominating him. Her words draw a long moan from his mouth and he explodes all over the floor, long jets spurting out of him, moaning to the ceiling. All eyes are on Ever as we ride waves of pleasure. We all sit there in the bathroom, panting and sated. It’s only nine a.m and already I’m dreading the day, but what a way to start it.
Leyland
Garrot leans forward towards us, and cums all over my cock, the hot slick liquid sliding down my balls, mixing with Everly`s juices and I explode inside her.
“Oh fuck.” My eyes roll back into my head and I moan out my pleasure. After we all just sit there, catching our breaths.

“I love you all so much,” she says on a sob. The three of us immediately sober and we each wrap our arms around her.
“It’s going to be okay.”
“Babe, we are here with you.”
“My love, we love you too.”
Damn. We are all scared, none of us want to lose what we’ve so recently built. We also don’t want the planet to be destroyed, it’s a heavy load to bear, but I have faith the four of us can defeat Poseidon and his army of Elite. Together we can do anything.
I look down at my watch absently, it’s nine AM, Will and his men will be here any second. Time to get ourselves cleaned up and dressed, ready for training to begin.

“Will and his clan will be here soon. We need to get dressed,” I reluctantly say to everyone. Everly opens her eyes and wipes them. I give her a reassuring smile as she turns to look at me. “I’ll do brekky,” Karl replies. “I’ll run the vac around downstairs too, I may have got dirt on the hallway carpet. Sorry.” His eyes are downcast as Ever looks to him.
“It’s your house too, not just mine. It’s our home. The four of us.” To drive her point home, she stands and crouches down in front Karl, cum dripping on the floor. “If you’ve got mud on the carpet, you better go clean it up,” she says quietly into his ear. His dick gets hard again and he bites his bottom lip.
“Yes Miss.” Looking into her eyes he puts his lips to hers softly, then stands to get dressed. Huh, interesting. I never knew Karl liked to be dominated. I’ve never seen him like that before, Ever was so sexy bossing him around, my own dick twitches again.
“Best get dressed before we spend all day in this room.” I say on a laugh.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Ooh yes. In both. In Four Ever it’s when Everly tells Leyland…. But I can’t tell you that. But I cried writing it.
And in Blaze it’s when Charlie asks Kayla .. I cannot tell you that either. But I cried like a baby, as did my Alphas!
Oh – you are a tease!!! What advice would you give a beginner?
Accept help. You won’t think other authors are willing to help, but they are. Some… well there aren’t many who aren’t really really nice. Oh and get a PA. They are invaluable. Do it early on. Make sure they read what you write first, build a friendship with them. The relationship you build with your PA is paramount. Also don’t reveal your cover right away, tease readers with it. Reveal a little at a time, make a game of it. Engage with readers, they love it. Social media is scary, very scary. But it’s a must! Ask questions, talk about yourself and encourage them to talk about themselves. I wish you the best of luck!

Jessica Lynne
Jessica Lynn and I connected through social media.
Author Bio
I have a strong belief that when something of value is broken- a person, a keepsake, or a relationship- you don’t throw it away, you fix it! Whether the thing in need of repair is a character trait, an attitude, an heirloom, or a marriage- you do whatever is necessary to repair it if possible.
My focus is relationships. My passion is love. Much of my writing embraces themes such as renewed relationships, trust and forgiveness, repentance and correction, and character refining. I was given the advice once, “Don’t be afraid to be bold,” and that is how I try to approach my writing.

Tell us about yourself.
I’m in my late 30’s and married to my husband of 16 years. We live in New England with our four children ages 2-11, 2 cats, and a hamster.
Aside from my writing I also blog, and homeschool 2 of my children.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve been writing since I was a kid. I’m not sure I ever thought I’d be an author but I always had a secret desire to be published.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
I enjoy drama, historical fiction, romance and some thrillers. I prefer not to read books in the genre I write in because I find it affects my own voice. I do read some authors but I’m specific about the ones I choose.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
Adults as it contains some sexual content
What is your current release or project?

I’ve recently released my debut novel, ‘Correcting Candi,’ which is book one in my ‘Starting Over’ series.
Book 2, ‘Naming His Price,’ is due to be released- date pending.
Books 3 and 4 are works in progress.
Tell us about the key characters
In ‘Correcting Candi’, the main characters are Candice Papageorgiou and Ralph Hamilton.
Candi is a girl in her twenties who still lives at home in upstate New York. She comes from a wealthy family and hasn’t learned to ‘adult’ or take responsibility for herself and her own actions, yet.
After losing another job, her father sends her to a see a job recruiter in order to teach her a lesson. The recruiter she sees is Ralph Hamilton.
Ralph is the complete opposite of Candi. He’s learned from a young age to work hard and be self- reliant. When he meets Candi at his office, he is repelled by her at first but due to some of his own ghosts in the past, decides he would like to help her learn to be responsible. The methods he employs are unconventional but he believes strongly in their ability.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
Candi is a twenty-five-year-old young woman living off her daddy’s money in New York. Having everything handed to her certainly hasn’t helped her in the maturity department and when her father threatens to cut her off, she has no choice but to find a job. When she meets with a job recruiter, Ralph Hamilton, seeking employment, he is baffled by the constant setbacks she’s had with each previous employer. After getting to know her, Ralph is on to her. She may think life is being unkind, but he has other ideas…
Ralph Hamilton is the owner of R. Hamilton & Co. Life has thrown him some curve balls, but when he meets Candice, she proves to be just the woman he needs to get his life back. Little does Candi know that his influence in her life will go far beyond the office…
Share an excerpt
“I understand that, Mista Hamilton but you still haven’t told me what you are proposing…”
He sat back and nodded his agreement. “What I am proposing, Candice is for you to allow me to reform you.” His eyes met hers, silently, with an authoritative presence that was all their own. She wanted to burst out laughing again but when she looked into his eyes, she could see he wasn’t bluffing. “And how do you intend to do that?” she questioned, eyes wide with disbelief. “First, I would like to make it very clear that our relationship would be strictly platonic. I am not out to hit on you or try to take advantage of you. I will view you as an employer views their employee. You likewise will refer to me as Sir. You would reside in my home and have rules which you would be expected to follow and routines which you would be expected to keep. Adherence to your rules and responsibilities would earn you rewards and privileges and rule breaking would earn you punishments.”
“Um,” she croaked, her mouth dry from falling open. “What do you mean by punishments?”
“I mean that you will be punished for failure to adhere to my authority in any way that I see fit. The methods I use could be as simple as a reprimand or they could be as complex and humbling as a thorough bare bottom spanking, given over my knee. Do you catch my drift?”
Blushing – she could actually feel herself blushing! She couldn’t remember the last time she had done so. No one had that effect on her, ever. And while she sat there trying to contain her embarrassment, and arousal, he sat across from her cool as a cucumber, not so much as breaking a sweat.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Probably this one, because the characters have come to a place in their journey together, where they are finally on the same page…
“I don’t want you to let me…” Candi interjected, her eyes pleading in his direction. Fear was etched across her face, a look he’d never seen her wear before. He’d seen her nervous before, yes. She was nervous when he gave her a spanking, but this was not that. Every feature of her face was drawn out and taut as if her life itself depended on his staying. “Please don’t go, Ralph.” She reached out for him afraid this would be the last time, afraid he’d make her leave and not return. “I’ll take the spanking, please. I want to do better than this. Teach me, Ralph, teach me to do right.”
What advice would you give to a new writer?
Well, I am still a beginner myself, but to anyone who has a dream to write or be published my advice is to hone the skill. Do everything you can to protect your dream and carve out time to work on it. Set aside time for yourself each day to work towards your goal- and let others know that time is yours, and only to interrupt if absolutely necessary.
One piece of advice that helps me is – you won’t start off a great writer. Your writing will get better as you do it!

Nyxie Mars
Nyxie Mars and I met through social media. We’re on a lot of the same groups.
Author Bio
Nyxie Marrs is a newly published author. Dabbling in the mystery and suspense genre, but doesn’t limit herself to just that. Reading books of all genres can spark an inspiration. (Writing them is a different story.)
With a brief, (several years) hiatus, writing is back in her life with more ideas than she can jot down. There are several books in the works, and only a few to be published. Writing, researching, and editing between the multiple books sounds daunting, (and often is) it keeps her on her toes.
With the passion of creativity constantly coursing, these characters have a mind of their own. Often times, an idea hits her and she scrambles to write it down. ‘Storing’ that new book info in one of those genius places you’ll never forget (like memory) can fail, so scrambling to write everything down is a major must.
She takes the good with the bad and keeps a positive outlook on everything. Nothing will stop her from sharing her books, created worlds, and odd characters with the world.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a wife, and a mother of one living in California. I enjoy the rainy days, but the sunny weather permits more outdoor activities.
I love to hike and walk through nature trails. Inspiration hits me no matter where I’m at, but the quiet of nature does help my mind relax and I am able to recenter myself. Along with that, I am an amateur photographer, and archery is one of my favorite activities. In my free time, which doesn’t happen often, is when I find time to write. It’s a good thing I can type fast when a scene pops into my mind, making the most out of the opportunities I have to myself.
I have ample support from the friends and family who know I write, which helps motivate me to put my work out there.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve always wanted to be an author, I have several pieces written that have sat for years. It’s only recently I’ve decided to push myself into publishing. Funny enough, my old writing has brought out inspiration for new books, but everything I intend to publish so far are new ideas.
What genres do you like to read? Are these the same genres you write in?
I read different types of genres. If it sounds interesting, or if the first few pages are promising, I take a chance. Not all the genres I read are what I write in, but I am noticing now, that I write in multiple genres.
Is your book for adults, young adults or children?
All my writing is for adults. There may be triggers from violent situations, there’s mild language, and suggestive statements.
What is your current release or project?

My current release is titled: Etched In Glass
It will be available September 13, 2019 in E-book and paperback on Amazon.
I have multiple projects in the works.
Tell us about the key characters
The key characters in this book are names Vega Carson, and Miles Castor. Both are investigating a series of abductions and hitting dead ends. Vega takes a bold chance and investigates while off the clock. Miles is set on finding the abductor, but doesn’t run into much information until he meets Vega.
Her determination creates complications as Miles tries to help her investigate. She intends to get results no matter what it takes, and won’t let things stand in her way.
What is your blurb or synopsis of the book?
A string of abductions catch the interest of one FBI agent, Vega Carson, whose sister is a recent victim. The only clue left behind? A number etched into the bottom of a whiskey glass. With her determination to save the victims in his grasp, she does the unthinkable: Allows someone to join her risky off-hours operation to find the suspect.
Miles Castor, a detective for the local police department, needs information on a case. The last thing he thought he’d find is a powerful woman hell-bent on finding the same criminal.
It’s a struggle between them as he infiltrates her life and assists in the search.

“Sorry.” That soft voice, with concern in his eyes is all I can think about. “Are you okay? Do you need anything?”
Do I need anything? Why am I considering having someone tag along to my game of ‘catch the killer’? I shake my head and finally look him in the eyes.
“I’m fine.” Even I felt the ice from that cold tone. I need distance. This isn’t going to go well for me and I just need to stop this now. I can’t have him involved. “I think I need to go.” I stand up.
He places a hand on my shoulder as I try to walk by him. He isn’t trying to forcefully stop me, but my body stills at the contact. I close my eyes and I can feel his warmth surround me. I can’t do this. Not now.
Do you have a favorite scene?
I do have a favorite scene, but it’s towards the end of the book and I don’t want to give away spoilers.
What advice would you give a beginner?
I would say to never give up. Sounds cliche, I know, but it’s true. I gave up a while ago but always felt the need to write. Push yourself into doing something bold too. Don’t be afraid of the criticism, there will always be someone who likes your work, and others who won’t. It happens to everyone.
