These patterns are made with crochet cotton. Crochet cotton is like terry cloth so you can throw these in the washer with your towels. The cotton is durable so won’t wear out.

Some patterns are smaller to fit newborns while others are larger so they can grow with the new edition.

Three of these patterns appeared in a Pattern Pack Pro in February 2019. I’ve added three new patterns to this leaflet. All will make practical and beautiful bibs for the babies in your life.

Disability – Writing

If you’ve been with me since the beginning, you know I have health issues which affect my mobility. The less I’m able to get around the more certain issues become important to me. I can’t do much physically.

I hate talking about this. I don’t want or need pity nor do I want people to think I’m using my health as a way to avoid working. At the same time, there are things which have become exceedingly difficult for me.

How can someone like me give back? I’m not out running or biking some race or run. I can’t walk to my bathroom some days. So how can I help out? Of course – the only way I can help out is to write. So I’ve been writing.

I was asked to join an anthology to support people with disabilities. All I had to do was write a story. So I did. It will now appear in this anthology:

WHAT LIES WITHIN – NOT YOUR AVERAGE ANTHO

This thrilling and inspiring collection of stories, features a strong set of characters that each face their own challenges and perceived setbacks in life. Find out What Lies Within each of these inspiring stories and watch as the characters learn to accept what makes them all that more special. This collection features a series of fascinating short stories and excerpts for upcoming novels – all written by your favorite authors!

Wayfarer – Books 16, 17, 18

How is Adara supposed to protect billions of humans? The answer – she can only protect those she can. Getting her to realize it – that’s the hard part. Juggling her third pregnancy, new planets and society, and trying not to get killed by Hettians is a enough to deal with but those are just the bullet points on her to do list. From War to Resolve, I knew the series was ending.

Wayfarer War

Home – they’re barely settled when Adara’s off trying to help the humans. Why? Because it’s how she is. But the humans government is too arrogant to see they are about to be slammed. This started as one of the shorter books. The characters wouldn’t let me skim over the more serious issues at hand.

Blurb

The Hettians attack!

Rushing through Human territory, Command does not respond to the attack leaving the outer stations, planets and settlements undefended. Death and destruction follow the Hettians.

Pregnant with twins, Adara fears for her family and her people.  She wants to fight, to protect but doesn’t have the fire power to take on the Hettians.  Short staffed and short on supplies, she questions every decision.

The Lux becomes a way station for those escaping the Hettian invasion.  With assistance from the Etiennes, Adara works to rescue survivors but also tries to let the unsuspecting stations and settlements know what is headed their way.

Will the Hettians annihilate the Humans?  Will any race be safe from them?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-War-book-16

Wayfarer Evolution

Evolution and Resolve started as one book. About the time I got through the initial book, I knew it was too long. So I split them. One thing which needed to be prominent was that prejudice doesn’t go away no matter what you do to wipe it out. There’s always a little lingering.

Blurb

Humans only survives

Old prejudices haunt the Wayfarers as they make room for the survivors of the human race.  Little incidents of vandalism and bigotry pile up.  Adara and Decker face the day to day running of the Wayfarers both on planet and off.  With Oakes’ reassurance and Decker’s support, she plans to take the new ship and explore their sectors.

Before they can go, humans only make an attempt to harm their children and family. Taking a hands off approach, the investigation is handled by people outside the family.  Violence against the family and Adara’s assistants lead to the Wayfarers first trial.

Back in space, Adara settles into running the Wayfarers and exploring space.  She finds comfort and excitement in learning how to delegate and balance her life.  But the conflict isn’t resolved and follows her.

Will the Wayfarers and Humans come together?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Evolution-book-17

Wayfarer Resolve

One of the things I wanted to show was that prejudice isn’t one way. Everyone has prejudices to some degree. The question becomes whether you act on them or if you try to overcome them.

Blurb

Bigotry haunts Adara.

Adara and Decker set out in their new ship to take workers to Monroe and find a new planet for the Etiennes.  While they address violent riots on Homeworld, their children are attacked.  Adara must be Mathair Naclan – mother of the clans.  She learns to take control and stand firm behind her decisions which follow beliefs from a range of races including her own heritage of human and Wayfarer. The bigotry threatens the most vulnerable of her family.

Bias within the Wayfarers and against the Wayfarers frustrates Adara as she and her admin council defend against the Humans only group.  The family is threatened by the people Adara rescued.

Can they find a way to peace or will the prejudice tear apart the connections Adara and the Wayfarers are making?

Wayfarer – Books 13, 14, 15

Believe it or not, people can disagree and still get along. In these three books, it’s a prelude to and the huge change in Decker and Adara’s roles. Decker grows a lot in these books. I knew by the end of Convictions that changes had to occur for the series to remain interesting. Unusual for me, I actually had a plan for these three books. Generally, I go with the flow but I know I wanted to shift the story to a new direction.

Wayfarer Limits

What’s the fastest way to get rid of people? Change the rules. Command changes the rules and in the process alienates (pun intended) the aliens. Some of the inspiration comes from the racial tensions we experience and some from historical events like the rise of Hitler’s Germany. It all got rolled up into one ball and this book is the result.

Blurb

Command changes the rules.

Disagreeing without fighting, Adara and Decker face the new challenges as Command issues new mandates restricting how all members do their jobs.  Tension rises on the ship and across the human territory.  Diplomatic relations with the Tuscalains goes poorly for the humans but not for the Wayfarers. Racial unrest ripples across the human territory, hitting close to home with Adara’s family.

Will Decker and Adara get on the same page?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Limits-book-13

Wayfarer Contentious

I think this quote “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.” (Edmund Burke) Mandates – rules being changed which are inherently (from the Declaration of Independence – read it – it’s powerful) unfair and unjust. So throw those influences in and add in Adara and Decker’s sense of right and wrong and out pops Contentious.

Blurb

More Mandates!

Escalating conflicts plague the command staff and Decker and Adara.  New trainees arrive with an unexpected addition.

Racial tensions rise with many attacks on other races. Allies are attacked, humans only is on the rise.

Have they reached a tipping point?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Contentious-book-14

Wayfarer Home

Adara’s always wanted a home. For her, it’s usually a ship but now the Wayfarers and a bunch of others need a home. Somewhere they can build what’s needed to move forward. What better way to do this than find a bunch of planets in a protected location and go there away from those who don’t want them. I remember thinking of the Oregon Trail my daughters used to play when they were young. A trip over a long distance isn’t as simple as it sounds. There’s always hazards and difficulties. Adara has a somewhat idealistic view on life until she has to organize a lot of people into some sort of cohesive organization.

Blurb

It’s time to leave!

Adara and Decker gather up the Wayfarers, Humans, Briskans, and a variety of other races to leave.  Friends, Georgette, Luke, and Drake, join them bringing needed skills.

Building a new society, Adara struggles with all the responsibilities on her shoulders.  An uncomfortable ship, seven months pregnant and a saboteur create an intolerable situation.  Teamwork and drawing on all resources, including the children, helps get all the tasks done and sets a precedent on how they move forward as they travel to their new home.

Will they survive the saboteur?

Wayfarer – Books 10, 11, 12

In this trio of books, Adara finishes her pregnancy with an early delivery under less than perfect conditions. Babies had already been born. I didn’t want there to be too much repetition. I don’t want to give away too much but in this trio of books, there’s a scene or maybe two, where when I wrote them made me cry. I hope they are well written enough to move the readers to feel as strongly as I did. By Conviction, there are some serious hints as to changes in the series.

Wayfarer Expansion

Adara’s pregnancy was supposed to take up one book. She was supposed to have the kid and move on to parenting. This definitely did NOT happen. Characters go where they want – I just write it down.

Blurb

Friend or foe?

Mostly over her morning sickness, Adara juggles Decker being over protective, a new relationship for her niece Jolen, and meeting a new race.  While escorting settlers to a new planet, Adara and Decker meet the Tuscalain people.

Will they be as dangerous as the Hettians or an ally?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Expansion-book-10

Wayfarer Acceptance

Like a real pregnancy, I was starting to feel like Adara’s would never end. However, I knew she wasn’t going to give birth in the normal way of birthing. This book was one of the most difficult to write. There were scenes where I cried and felt a bit of horror but they had to be in the book.

Blurb

Adara gives birth!

Their daughter arrives early and under less than ideal circumstances.

Finally they learn why so many attempts have been made on Adara’s life. While Adara and Decker get used to being parents, Jolen and Tillie take on a hacker. Rhia and Bas work on a murder case.

Adara meets thirteen year old Bethania from the Holy Cross. The Holy Cross is an old private vessel carrying too many people.

It spells disaster.

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Acceptance-book-11

Wayfarer Convictions

Decker and Adara are comfortable in their relationship. They are adjusting to being new parents. But of course that can’t be it for them. The new ship and procedures are working well. In this book, there’s a hint of conspiracy probably because I love to listen to them. Some are ridiculous and some may sound too true for comfort.

Blurb

Raiders, Tuscalains, and cold cases!

Walter Farento, a services efficiency expert observes the Phoenix. Rhia fumbles for leads in her cold case, while the hacker eludes Jolen. Avin hunts a firebug. Sabotage threatens the assembly of a new station. A breakthrough in the cold case points to something deeper and more sinister.

It all amounts to just another day on the job for Adara and Decker

Wayfarer – Books 7, 8, 9

One thing about writing a series is you have to keep it fresh. You can’t keep blowing things up – or can you? If you put your characters through the same thing over and over your reader will be bored – or at least I would be. So I wanted to shake things up a bit… maybe a lot. These three books are about big changes in life. Huge changes which will either make a person stronger and better or it will break them down. What do you think happens with Adara?

Wayfarer Destruction

Adara is in danger – again? Really? Well this time it’s right on Command Station and it’s partly Decker’s fault. If only he hadn’t asked his father to get Adara out of their quarters. This book has a lot of sorrow and grief in it. It also has one of my favorite scenes when one very small character gets a chance to be a hero.

Blurb

Someone wants Adara dead – again.

A disastrous first flight leads Franklin to expose sabotage and industrial espionage threatening Adara’s life.  Orders come down, Adara and Decker are to seek out and meet with the Hettians. They are to return the Hettian prisoners to their home world.

Dr. Nukpana is on the loose trying to recruit Wayfarers and testing his formula on humans.  The bodies pile up while Adara and Decker cope with an arrogant and foolish diplomat.

Everything Adara loves is threatened. Many she holds dear are at risk. Will she be able to save the Pritchard and her crew? Or will she lose all she loves again?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Destruction-book-7

Wayfarer Freedom

Loss, grief, and big life changes means Adara is off balance and uncertain of herself. This book has a lot of plot strands which lead the characters in a lot of directions but ultimately, brings them together to face it all together. For this, I wanted to show that even characters in a book have bad times and difficulties.

Blurb

Adara can’t shake her grief.

Without a ship and home, she feels untethered. Adara is pulled in many directions with her negotiations, training, and consulting. In the chaos of all her responsibilities, her life is threatened.  Is it because of the crimes she’s helped solve, the enemies she’s made at Command or with Nukpana?  Who is after her?  She struggles to find her balance as Decker is injured protecting her.

Wayfarer independence comes before the legislature.  The clan leaders decide Adara is the best woman for addressing the large assembly.  Adara would like anyone else to do it but agrees because her people need her to.

Will she be able to persuade them to give Wayfarer their independent status?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Freedom-book-8

Wayfarer Salvation

New EVERYTHING! Starting this book like the reader just turned the page to see what was next seemed like the logical step in this book. There’s a lot of changes in responsibilities and life for this book.

Blurb

Adara’s pregnant!

Adara and Decker experience the fears and joys of expecting their child.  Fears remain from the previous miscarriage.  Decker wants to protect her, shelter her.

With twists and turns of crime fighting, pregnancy issues, and growing pains, the crew of the Phoenix fumble their way through the first days of their contracts with Decker, Hal, Adara, and all the command staff trying to guide them.

Will they succeed on the new ship?

Wayfarer – Books 4, 5, 6

As this series continued, I enjoyed writing about the characters. It felt like catching up with friends. While I worked on other things, there was always the next Wayfarer book to think about. What was the overall theme going to be? What would happen next? Is it too soon for a baby? Should the family be involved? How much of the family?

Wayfarer Negotiator

In Negotiator, Adara steps into new roles and responsibilities. Like most people, she’s not sure she can do these new things. At the same time, the relationship between her and Decker takes on new nuances. This meant that Decker had to learn to be less in charge in their personal lives. Adara had to learn to be more assertive about what worked for her.

Blurb

A riot on a space station throws Adara Stone into a new role.

When Wayfarers clash with shopkeepers, Adara’s asked to step in to settle the dispute.

Decker’s parents are visiting but he doesn’t want her to meet them.  He leaves her on the ship while he spends time with his family.  Until Avin’s, the Etienne hunter, murder case interrupts with an important break.

Negotiating, Decker and Adara clash over her continued health issues.

Can they come together to negotiate a peaceful settlement?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Negotiator-book-4

Wayfarer Wedding

This book cause a conundrum for me. I am not big on weddings and the hoopla that goes around them. I didn’t plot out my own wedding as a kid. I never really considered it until I was getting married. I knew this book would not focus on the wedding. Instead I focused on the stress of a wedding and oh yeah – most of Adara’s family being in harms way. This is where Adara has to lead but not be on hand to do the leading.

Blurb

Adara and Decker’s big day fast approaches!

Before they can wed, her family is sent on a covert mission to collect information on a hostile race.

Decker’s mother makes demands on how the wedding should be causes tension in an already stressful situation. Will Adara and Decker be able to protect her family and return in time to have their wedding?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Wedding-book-5

Wayfarer Trials

The wedding is over and the honeymoon was delightful but without going erotica in this series, I only implied what their honeymoon was like. Again, sometimes the characters just need a bit of privacy. To some extent, I looked at what this series was about. Is this going to be focused on the adventures of Adara and Decker’s lives? Or was I going to look at the bigger picture? One thing I hate about other series is by the third or fourth book, there’s a formulaic quality to the book. I didn’t want that for Adara’s story.

Blurb

Humans only!

Returning from their honeymoon, Adara and Decker with their crew face a rash of attacks on non-human females.

New trainees bring a sense of danger.  Decker and Paul try to protect Adara through a series of explosive events.

Can Adara protect her people with her skills?

Wayfarer – Prequel, Books 1, 2, 3

Wayfarer started as a request from my middle daughter in 2014. I’d successfully published a romance novel, a meditation book and three poetry books. I looked around and said – okay what next?

My middle daughter came up with the answer. Write her a space story with a strong female lead.

From there, I came up with Adara who was slightly damaged, quiet, and trying to figure out what she needed. My great grandmother was a petite woman standing about five foot all at most. My great grandfather was six foot seven inches. I have a picture of them where he’s sitting and she stands next him. They are the same height. This was the inspiration behind their physical attributes.

As I considered what it meant for her to be a Wayfarer I looked at different cultures which are outside the norm. I knew she was going to be skilled in ways the Humans couldn’t be. It’s almost paranormal.

Decker was meant to be a stiff necked jerk of sorts. He was supposed to be the by the book type character.

The whole story was about her learning to stand up and speak out for herself and him learning to trust her and bend – a lot.

Wayfarer Aegis

This book was actually written after I wrote the first five novels. I had to go back into each of the novels and pull out all the details I’d already written about the accident.

Blurb

Adara Stone – pilot for the Interstellar Planets Union services.

She’s half Wayfarer and half human and Captain James’ last choice as a pilot.  Excited for her first long contract and explorer class ship, Adara knows she’ll spend seven years flying a ship in unknown space. She can’t wait to see what’s out there.

By the book, Captain Alden James does not want anyone varying from his flight plan.  He quickly loses patience with Adara breaking protocol.

Adara craves a family but finds only recrimination and punishment.  She taps into the skills dismissed by her captain and the services in order to be the best pilot she can be.  When Fate intervenes, will her Wayfarer skills be enough?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-Aegis-prequel

Wayfarer

Recovered from the disaster of the Aegis, Adara longs to fly in space again.

Emotionally and physically battered, she applies to every piloting position but her heart and soul long to fly the Pritchard.  The Manu investigatory ship requires all types of flying from chasing raiders, rescuing ships in danger, and getting investigators on site.

Captain Decker Flannery gets to hire his entire crew for the first time.  He doesn’t want some damaged pilot to mess with the balance of his crew.  When one of his pilots takes a better offer, he has no choice but to hire Adara Stone, highest ranking survivor from the Aegis.  He doesn’t want her on his ship, he thinks she’s trouble.

Can Decker see through Adara’s quiet and discover more than he bargained for?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-book-1

Wayfarer Clans

Once I finished Wayfarer, my test readers all said – ‘where’s the next one’. I told them no this was a one and done. They came back with was what about …. When they asked, I got ideas… and well ideas led to this.

Blurb

Are Wayfarer Clans kidnapping children, teen girls, and scientists?

A rash of kidnappings lead Adara to suggest a Wayfarer clan is adding to their clan. Chasing down a stolen Science Corp vessel, Adara Stone beats the pilot and rescues the ship and all its occupants.  The pilot of the ship shocks Adara.

Decker and Adara struggle to cope with her family relations as the crew dives deeper into the kidnapping cases.  Friction arises between the two.

Will her family put a wall between Decker and Adara?

https://books2read.com/Wayfarer-book-1

Wayfarer Immemorial

After the second book, I realized this was going to be a series. All the injuries up to this point have been for Adara. I knew that this couldn’t continue otherwise she was going to end up dead. Plus it would get tedious and predictable.

Blurb

The Barions are back!

Decker wants Adara nowhere near the memorial but she insists on helping the survivors and the families of those lost on the Aegis.

With her plate full as a new clan leader, Adara leaves security up to Decker, Franklin, and Paul.  Her only requirement – she must attend the memorial service.

Barion battlecruisers invade the Services space while a rogue Barion attempts to meet privately with Adara.

Will Decker and Adara survive this encounter with the Barions?

Progress on a Project

We’re all stressed from the covid 19 stuff. I won’t say I’ve not been stressed because I’ve had my moments. However, I’m enjoying not commuting. I don’t believe I’ve been out of my house in two weeks. I could get used to this.

I’ve been working on re-editing my Wayfarer series. I’ve gone through each manuscript and edited them again. I’ve purchased new covers (wait till you see). My sister helped by entering the edits on the computer for me.

This means I’ve had 19 manuscripts on my desk waiting for me to find time to go into the electronic file and accept the changes. I finally found time. I’m up later because I don’t have to be up so early, so I get a lot of this done at night. I’ve accepted edits on Wayfarer Aegis, Wayfarer, Wayfarer Clans and Wayfarer Immemorial. I started Wayfarer Negotiator today.

The next step is to read through each new document, look for any errors that were introduced during editing, and make any final changes. Then I do a spell check and call it done – sort of….

At the end of each novel, I’m adding an updated list of all my books. I finally got that finished. I’ve also added a teaser and link for the next book. I had graphics made for the teaser and the new book list. I like them and hope the readers will too.

So to date, I’ve got Wayfarer Aegis ready for re-release. I’ve read through and done all edits on Wayfarer but I need to add the teaser (book list already added). The rest are in the queue. I hope to start the read through on Wayfarer Clans tonight or tomorrow night. These are getting done as I stagger each one.

I really like the new covers – sorry no previews. Jaycee from Sweet N Spicy did an amazing job on them. I took reader and beta reader suggestions when I had the new covers made.

My hope is to have them done by mid June …. I hope. With the extra time at home, I’ve used it wisely – sometimes. Other times, I’ve just stayed up way too late doing goofy stuff. When work clothes and bras are optional, you just never know what’s going to happen.
