Wayfarer Evolution and Other Good News!

It’s done!  It’s published!  I’m really excited about this one.  I think the story turned out really good.  I’m pleased with the end result.

Here is a synopsis of it:

With the retreat of the Hettians to their own space, Adara is left to face the day to day running of the Wayfarers.  With Oakes’ reassurance and Decker’s support, she plans to take the new ship and explore their sectors.  A visit from Dalina of the Tuscalains and trouble in Hometown, Adara’s escape is delayed.
Adara settles into having four children but worries she isn’t giving them enough time while she is Mathair Naclan.  Consulting with Oakes, she and Decker plan to return to space so she can explore their sectors.
Unrest with the Humans only group causes conflict and violence in Hometown.  Adara’s children and family are threatened.  Adara’s assistants are attacked, which leads to their first trial.  Due to her involvement with the victims, Adara stays on the sideline of the trial.

Back in space, Adara settles into running the Wayfarers and exploring space.  She finds comfort and excitement in learning how to delegate and balance her life.  But the conflict isn’t resolved and follows her.  Will the bigotry continue?

This week I also got my Braided Scarf pattern published in Happily Hooked Crochet magazine (issue 51).  If you want to check out the magazine, it’s available here.  The Braided Scarf is a gorgeous gray and purple sparkly yarn which turned out beautifully.

I’m jumping up and down for joy but only for a little while because I still have work to do!  Crochet patterns to publish and post on Ravelry, edits to enter in the computer, and a long long list of projects to work on.

Long Weekend

Three days off was nice but it makes for an odd start to the week.  It’s Tuesday already and I feel like I’m behind but I’m not.

The weekend was busy.  Vicki and I did the errands.  This included grocery shopping, visit to the butcher, Walmart, Aldis, and Hobby Lobby.  We grabbed lunch on the run and took it home.  This was all on Saturday.  Sunday we spent the morning doing food prep.  I repackaged a bunch of stuff for lunches and breakfasts.  Monday I made fruit salad and finished the few things we missed on Sunday.

On the writing front, I wrote a little since finishing the last novel.  I did get through a paper edit of Wayfarer Evolution and started a paper edit of Wayfarer Resolve.  Monday morning I managed to get some publishing done (see previous post).

I figured out what I want to do for goody bags for the event in November.  I started crocheting coasters.  I have ten done of the hundred I’ll need.  Fortunately, it’s a quick pattern.  I plan to expand the pattern into a shawl and make one for the gift basket I’ll send in for the raffle.

My neighbor stopped over and wanted some more books.  I gave her three more.  I hope she enjoys them.  She started with Secret Past.  She said she’s not a fan of science fiction and most of mine are in that genre so I’ll see whether she continues to read my books.

I’ve got a list of crocheting I want to get done.  I still need to upload several patterns to Ravelry.  I’m hoping I’ll have time to do that next weekend.  My to do list got things crossed off but not nearly as much as I would have liked.

Ken worked on the patio we are putting in.  With the temps being over 90, he got some done but it was too hot for that kind of work.  Hopefully this next weekend he will be able to get more done.  I sat outside for a while but the bugs and the heat drove me back inside.

Bouncing Around in My Head

The long weekend looms ahead.  I’m in need of some down time.  Now my original plans were to work on cleaning out the basement.  That is not happening.  Doing the stairs is hard enough, doing the stairs when I can’t breath well is nearly impossible.

Instead we are going to try to cram all the errands into Saturday.  Then Sunday and Monday will be down time.  Or for me it will be working on writing, editing, and publishing.  I’m very close to finishing another manuscript.  I cannot wait.  I’m truly excited to finish this one off.

I have a  number of crochet patterns I want to get edited and published.  I also need to upload them to Ravelry.  I’ve got one pattern I need to make sure I’ve got correct and then I need to work on another which people have asked me for.  I’ll have to see what it costs me to make in order to figure out what to charge them.  The Lacy Cap in the picture is recently published and I love the material.

I’m thinking about creating a pattern which will link to my Wayfarer books.  I know I’m crazy right?  Adara (character in the book) is always crocheting… it seems like a good fit.  I’ll have to see how my time goes.

There are so many things rushing through my head I need three of me to keep up with all of them.  It’s okay – I like it this way for the most part.  Unless I’m trying to sleep.  I’m feeling a strong need to make a list which I think I already have one or two in one of my notebooks so I should go look and add to it.

Hopefully a quiet weekend at home means I get a lot accomplished and some of this stuff stops bouncing around in my head.

Wayfarer Home and other news

Wayfarer Home is now available on Amazon and Smashwords.  This is the next installment of Adara and Decker’s story.  Here is a brief synopsis of the story:

Building a new society, Adara struggles with all the responsibilities on her shoulders.  An uncomfortable ship, seven months pregnant and a saboteur create an intolerable situation.  Teamwork and drawing on all resources, including the children, helps get all the tasks done and sets a precedent on how they move forward as they travel to their new home.
I’m excited for this to be published.  I love the new step the story has taken and am excited for the next book.  Wayfarer War is next and should be out in March or April.
In addition to publishing this, I’ve been crocheting a lot.  I don’t know if the crochet did it but I’ve on the bench when it comes to crocheting right now.  I’ve been working on thread projects which have always been tough for me and two days ago I realized my middle finger on my right hand (the one that holds the teeny tiny hook) has swollen.  I can’t get my ring on it and it hurts to bend it.  This means crocheting is on hold.  I’m annoyed with this because I have several projects I’m trying to get done for my daughters.
On the plus side, I’ve made my first doily with no pattern.  I really enjoyed working it up.  I’ve always thought doing this would be a numbers thing but I’m going on purely design rather than numbers.  I won’t be publishing this one – maybe.  It’s gorgeous but I haven’t written down any of the rounds.
I do have two new patterns I am working on to publish.  I hope to get those ready soon, maybe a week or two.  One is a lovely warm winter scarf and one is a hat, scarf, wristers set.  Next will be a blanket which I’m working on – or was until my hand became an issue.  I’ll rest it but it is going to be hard.  Yesterday Vicki was knitting and I was just sitting there.  I found myself very impatient and annoyed and realized it was because I couldn’t crochet.

Catching Up

We know where mom is going when she’s released, but we aren’t positive when she will be released.  This week she sees the doctor and hopefully she will be done with the antibiotic.  Then it’s up to the nursing home to say how long they need her for therapy to prep her for release.

It’s been a crazy time with a lot of extra tasks – finding paperwork for the Medicaid application, paying her bills, and working with the nursing home for her care.  I got a request for more information for the Medicaid application.  I’m working on gathering that information so I can fax it in.

Thank goodness for my daughters.  When I’ve needed to rant, they’ve listened and not judged.  When I needed a reminder that I can only do what I can do, they’ve let me know.

In amongst all the craziness of the last few months, I’ve managed to finish Defenders of Magic.  It’s available on Amazon and Smashwords.  I’m also working on a few manuscripts to get them ready for publication.  Wayfarer Home will come out next month (hopefully).  After that in the series, I have Wayfarer War and two more.  TJ Jahns did the covers for the Defenders series and I like how they turned out.  This one is the conclusion to the story.  It took seven years but I finally finished the story.

The writing tasks and the crocheting I’ve been doing help keep me balanced.  I need this more than ever now as I’m handling so many other tasks.

Today I’m having a snow day – or more precisely an ice day.  We had rain and then snow.  The roads are bad from what Ken said.  We didn’t get a lot of snow but it’s the ice underneath which causes me problems.  The most hazardous for me is the parking lot.

While I’m off, I’ve checked my work email, personal email, and have done some writing / publishing tasks.  I’m going to make some changes to the paper version of Defenders of Magic (format changes) and then submit it for the third time.  Hopefully this time it will be how I want it.  Once I’m done with that, I’m going to work on my crocheting projects – dishtowels, daisy coasters, dresser scarf.  I’m waiting on thread to arrive.  I might check on the orders to see when they will get here.

I’m hoping to get a lot accomplished today on the writing and crocheting front.  Then when I face the world again tomorrow, I’ll be ready for more of the other stuff – mom’s tasks, work, and so on.  Also I’m hoping the roads and the parking lot at work are in better shape.

Book and Publishing News

Wayfarer Contentious is out and available on Amazon and Smashwords.  This is a continuation of Adara and Decker’s story.  More turmoil and trials with the Command withdrawing their support and racial tensions rising.

Change and conflict surround the Phoenix.  New trainees and Nancy O’Neal Finnegan arrive to board the Phoenix.  The Command mandates keep coming provoking the unrest amongst the crew.  Racial tensions rise with many attacks on other races.  Trainees complain about Adara, leading Command to issue and ultimatum.  Allies are attacked, humans only group is on the rise.  Have they reached a tipping point?

In addition to publishing the book, I’ve updated covers for the Defenders series.  TJ Jahns created new artwork for me (see her web site).  I think they turned out well and are a decided improvement.

Defenders of Magic is coming soon.  I have the cover done (I think).  Final edits went on the computer but I still have to read through one more time and do a spell check before I can publish.  I have to find a few hours of free time in order to do the actual publishing.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been updating my files so I can more easily market my crochet patterns and my short stories.  Part of this was to find links for my web site in order to make it easier for people to buy from their preferred vendor.

Over and above my own writing, I’m working on reading some books to write reviews.  I’ve completed six and have two more to read.  Out of the six, only one of them was enjoyable enough to keep.  I’m hoping the other two I have are more enjoyable but I’m not holding my breath.

Wayfarer Limits

The new Wayfarer book is out!  Wayfarer Limits is all about defining the limits in the characters lives and what are acceptable limits and what limits are not acceptable.

Here’s a description

Disagreeing without fighting, Adara and Decker face the new challenges as Command issues new mandates restricting how all members do their jobs.  Tension rises on the ship and across the human territory.  Diplomatic relations with the Tuscalains goes poorly for the humans but not for the Wayfarers. Racial unrest ripples across the human territory, hitting close to home with Adara’s family.
I’ll be updating my website as soon as links become available.  So go here to find the links where this is for sale.
For the rest of my day, I’m planning on working on editing or maybe watching disaster movies.  I’ve not decided.  I’m really excited about this publication.  It wrote fast and edited really well.  Right now I have five or six manuscripts to edit.

Wayfarer Convictions

The new Wayfarer novel is published!!!  Wayfarer Convictions is available on Smashwords and Amazon.  It will be available in paperback by the end of the week (I hope) on Amazon.  It’s available now on Createspace.

Here’s a description:

Raiders, Tuscalains, and cold cases, Walter Farento, a services efficiency expert observes the Phoenix. Rhia fumbles for leads in her cold case, while the hacker eludes Jolen. Avin hunts a firebug. Sabotage threatens the assembly of a new station. A breakthrough in the cold case points to something deeper and more sinister. It all amounts to just another day on the job for Adara and Decker
Nealon and Adara’s other pilots arrive on Ravena station to help with assembling a new space station.  Walter inspects the different departments to determine how they are being efficient.  He can’t understand why no one is comfortable with him until Abby Sprit, Galvin’s great niece tells him for doubting Adara’s integrity.
After a romantic interlude in a nebula, Adara and Decker discuss the million credit offer made by the Busalacchis for reparation.  A break in the cold case, Rhia must leave Paul and her children for a few days to interview key people.  A link between the hacker, cold case, and fire bug lead back to an unexpected source and old enemies.

A Nap or ???

Busy weekend means a lot got done but also a lot of aching people in my house.  Ken and Vicki worked on a whole bunch of things while I took care of a bunch of computer stuff.

Ken replaced the small step off our deck with a wider and longer step.  It looks lovely and will be easier once he gets a railing up.  Vicki liked it a lot.

Vicki got part of her living room painted and with Ken got shelves assembled.  Of course she loaded them up with books.

I worked on Wayfarer 16.  This morning when I had time alone in the house it took me four hours to finish it.  I like how this book turned out.  I’m not sure on the ending – but I never am.

I’m showered and dressed – odd for a vacation day but I am.  Next I’m going to go take a nap.  Or maybe I’ll read Wild Magic since I think I want to work on Wild Magic 2 next.  Or maybe I’ll take a break from it all and watch a movie while I crochet.  So many options.  Nap is sounding good especially since I had a weird night sleep.

Tomorrow I have someone coming to help me with the organization I want to do.  Hopefully we get a lot done but we will see.  I’m looking forward to seeing her.

The rest of this week will go to editing Wayfarer 12 and getting it published.  I’m really excited to get this out there.  I’ve been working on covers and I need to work on back material.  It’s exciting!

Wayfarer Acceptance

The new Wayfarer novel is published!  Wayfarer Acceptance is now available for purchase.  Here is a brief description of the next installation of the book:

Adara gives birth! Their daughter arrives early and under less than ideal circumstances. Finally they learn why so many attempts have been made on Adara’s life. While Adara and Decker get used to being parents, Jolen and Tillie take on a hacker. Rhia and Bas work on a murder case. Adara meets thirteen year old Bethania from the Holy Cross. The Holy Cross is an old private vessel carrying too many people. It spells disaster.
This one had me stalled because I had to decide how Adara would give birth.  Since there were already a number of births in the books I didn’t want to bore my readers with yet another typical birth.  This one is all Adara!
This book is available on Amazon and Smashwords right now.  Soon it will be available through other sellers.  You can also check out my website http://eileentroemel.weebly.com/
